Britt (Daestwen) is no longer around, but for something like this to happen it just needs organising. I'm sure if there were 'willing souls', they could try approaching the current Chow mods for advice or involvement...
Yeah if you guys find mods for it let me know.
.... what? is that? lol![]()
I never tried these... would be fun![]()

I definitely would love to do another Team Chow! If any extra help is needed in getting it together I'm happy to offer.
It's the Character of the Week challenge, but instead of doing an entry by yourself, you have to work with a team, which you put together yourself. The subject is more ambitious than normal too, usually a few different designs for a theme are submitted.![]()
Yes... I would be interested in participating in this too.
I've never understood the team stuff, is it ongoing, or?
I'd like to be involved, only I'm not sure I could be relied on to produce something of a consistent good standard. I certainly couldn't compete with some of the stuff in that thread.
I've been periodically ghosting this forum since almost the beggining... way before I ever felt I had time to get involved.
Team chow was very popular and was partially responsible for making the reputations of some of the heavy hitters here. It was ran like a regular chow but with more characters required, a longer deadline, and groups of likeminded artists forming teams. I think they planned of doing more but never got around to it. Eventually the main driving forces were too busy having careers and it kinda got forgotten.
I personally think this would be good to get started again, it would help reinvigorate the site challenges (which are but a shadow of what they once were) and it would expose some of the new blood to greater popularity.
I'd love this to happen. I'm also willing to help organize this kind of thing, if need be. That said, it's up to the ChOW people, whether or not they want it going on, as well as what the topic would be.
Clark and I have wanted to see if we could get a Team Creature of the Week event going. I'd love to know whether there is any interest in that happening, if any.

BUMP. Summer is almost here. People are getting out of school. I think we should get this going. I would love to help any way I can, but of course a mod will have to be in charge.
We've had special joined activities before, what if we combined Team CHOW and Team COW? Design a group of characters and each of their pets / steeds? There could be a theme added to that (time period, genre, etc), or just a requirement that they have a symbiotic relationship and you get to take it from there. I think that could be really cool.![]()

Oh man that would be totally awesome. I'd be game. Though, I don't really know anybody I could team up with D:.

Yay, that sounds like a great idea. I would be definitely interested!
I would be so in for this. ChOW is already fun by itself, though it's common for participants to drop out towards the end of the deadline for several reasons. Working in teams is definitely something that can motivate participants to see the challenges through, I think. This should happen.![]()
That could be cool but don't people usually submit the characters as full illustrations anyways?
Hey why not have IOW host a team event. It really needs a boost anyway.
Well in a sense they do, as in they are fully rendered out and presented like an illustration. But I meant more as in they design the characters and then afterwards put them into a scene of some sort, kinda like Kekai is doing with some of this type of thing (I'm presuming he designed those beforehand, then put them in the scene):

That is definitely a good possibility. IOW can seriously use some advertising!

It would help if the IOW awards icon was showing up by the winners screen names. People don't really compete in IOW because it lacks exposure. Sure doing a challenge can be fun in its own right, but you still want people to see what you worked so hard on. Right now CHOW dominates because it is so well known. You need something to make IOW more public. That is why I think Team IOW is a great idea. I'd hesitate to include CHOW at first because they seem a little reluctant to restart the team thing. So make it a IOW exclusive EVENT.
Definitely make a special IOW challenge! I'd participate!
The award icons need to be handled asap, though. I know a bunch of people who don't give IOW a shot because it hardly feels "official" without some sort of recognition. If it's a matter of manpower, I'm more than willing to help.
'Cuz life is full of your regrets, and I should be one...
One thing to think about though is that if there were a team IOW and there are 4 people on average per team... are enough people going to participate to get a reasonable number of entries? Maybe 10 on a good week? So even if you double that for an event, you're still only getting 5 entries in total.
Also, I personally feel a bit nervous about how well working on an illustration would go with a team.. character design seems a little bit more conductive to a group environment. But I could be totally wrong, because I've never tried.
I'm not trying to shoot down the idea of a team IOW, just that personally I'm feeling the event would be stronger if it were combined with CHoW, since that's guaranteed to get tons of people. I guess I'm coming from the perspective of getting people active on CA in general, instead of driving them towards a specific section of the site.
And I don't want to forget about COW either, I still think that or combining that with CHoW would be really cool :<
mods need to take the reigns on this now, haha<_<
The issue of badges is a real headache. Since neither Aksel nor I have admin powers we can't give any out. Our pleas to get the appropriate powers have resulted in just Aksel getting Super Mod powers, which means he can moderate a lot more, but still can't give out badges.
The badges that have been given out are as a favour by people who do have the proper powers. I'm not sure why the images are broken though...
(and the same problem resides in the Teen Challenge section, which the two of us also run)

That sucks, I know you guys are working super hard to make IOW successful.
'Cuz life is full of your regrets, and I should be one...
Ok, I`m down with a team competition, be it CHOW or IOW, either way. But, we shouldn`t forget that little thing called - incentive. Past team CHOWS offered awards, in form of free workshop videos for the winners. I think this time there should be something like that as well. I bet there will be far, far more interested parties involved if we could make this happen. First, however, we have to wait and see if Manley is up for it and if he can muster something out...
