I did, but all the changing destroyed everything I had in the first place and I'm not sure it's for the better. Probably will look at it tomorrow with a fresh eye.

Hey Adam, welcome.
As a tip; use fire sharing sites such as imageshack.us to upload your images and then paste the direct link (the ones that end with the file type, such as .jpg or .png) between the [ img ] tags. DeviantART isn't the best place to use for it; I believe it's forbidden even.

Finally! Thank you Lhune!
So again! I'm new here on the forum and i have already fallen in love with this place! And even though i don't have time to actually submit a finished drawing i have read through this thread and i couldn't help but get pulled into trying to figure out what would have use for 6 legs. So i did these two thumbnails of an albino monkey with 6 arms/legs. I won't do anything else with it but at least i did that. And i am very much trying to learn, and thumbnails are pretty new to me so any critique will be most appreciated.
Also, there is so much beautiful art in this thread, it's awesome! You all rock!

Any critique is very welcome! I am here to learn! Thank you!

My first post to actually try and participate in a COW!
Original sketches for the idea. At the top is the initial design, working from a years old one that I used for something else. I decided I didn't like it, so did the skull work and then the headshot at the lower right.
Any thoughts/recommendations?
Hi guys
I know i'm super late but i got time tomorrow so i hope i'll finish it. So here's my wip. Still not sure about the legs.
Crits so far?
My concept has no name yet but i'll find one soon
By the way, everyboby's doing really great on this oneSooo many legs haha
Awesome progress all of you guys
GammaGrey, awesome work, love it!! But i have some troubles to believ that this critter runs 100 mph or more with his skinny legs clunky feet
Lhune, to be honest i liked your previous wip more than the latest one. The background had more depth and a nice dusty feeling. Regardless of wether the anatomy is right or not (i always struggle terribly hard with anatomy) i liked the way you rendered it in the previous version. There are more hard edges which seem a bit blurred and washed out in the latest one. Hope you know what i mean...its late and i had a tough day
lkjhgfdsa, great work, i am curious to see it finished.
akerman, awesome work, love the colors and anatomy!
zy., looking good, i think it could have some more white/brighter areas since its an albino.
M!CK, really beatifull sketches, looking forward to see it finished!
Tchuk, i think you have a really nice progress on your creature, only the background bothers me a bit. Seems like there is a bit too much going on, but that sjust personal taste
Pixeltuner, i hope it helps you to look at it with fresh eyes later on, i d really like to see it finished
AdamStolterman, welcome first of all!! I hope to see you in the next challenge if you are not going to submit anything this time
akgreene, looks like a promissing start, although i miss a pair of legsBtw what does Nocturnal mean? Reminds me strongly of Skyrim
Erzebeth, oh my god, i really like the head of your creatureFor the pose i think the two frontlegs look very stiff, almost like its trying to brake with them while accelerating with the four hind legs at the same time
Little update, started with colors and some rendering, dont know if i ll be able to finish it in time, got a lot other stuff to do tomorrow...
Here are the initial sketches I came up with. I've been struggling this past week trying to figure this one out! Today I finally concentrated on the silhouette and kept it simple...
Another amazing round my friends! Can't wait to see how they all turn out! This came about rather quickly today, which helped with the topic. Maybe 3 hours total on this guy, quite surprised with the speedy results. I think it helps to keep the pencil moving fast and not to get bogged down in details...looking at the overall image. Let me know what you guys think.
Hi all there!! Its my first concept in conceptart.org .
The name of the creature is "Sunlight Escapist".
It is rarely found during day. It lives in cold places such as south pole but has been strangely seen in african deserts. Its extreme speed is mainly because of its six skilled legs, but they are helped by the wavy movement of a fan-like tail.
Update, some crits later today, promise!

Wow, the good stuff just keeps pouring in, great to see!
M!ck - I'm really loving the sketches - personally it reminds me of some benevolent fairytale creature - awesome!
I'm not sure it feels very fast though - but appearances can be deceiving
Pixeltuner - The face is really cool on this one! The environment and the colors are looking nice as well. I think the body itself is possibly a bit chubby and a little hard to see what's going on - I'm looking forward to see the final version!
Tchuk - Nice going with the perspective and stuff on the front part of the creature, looking sharp! You could probably make the creature pop a bit more from the bacmground if you made the bg a bit darker while keeping the creature light I think!
Lhune - Nice one! I think you can emphasize the speed even more if the creature would have its head and neck tilted more forward, almost in line with the horizon. Speking of the horizon, I think it would make the image a bit more dynamic to not have the edge between hsky and ground so sharp, and to put the horizon somewhere that's not in the middle =)
akgreene - Great start =) Looking forward to seeing a more finished version (with more legs haha!)
Erzebeth - Cool animal - and a spoontail! However, I agree with Mhugo - the pose does not necessarily convey as much speed as it could have.
Mhugo - Haha, that's the coolest mix of gross and cute, it has a great expression as well, and an interesting setting.
Vegasmike - Cool design, it's like a mix of a sea creature / fish type thing and an insect. Reads as incredibly fast =) Also really interesting to see your thumbnail phase!
Scorge - haha that's awesome, I really love the personality in the face, and the composition of the scene! It looks like he might have issues to outrun the predator tho
Since I won't have time to post my image tomorrow, I'm posting it here so that if I get any crits I can tweak it for myself after the competition, but this will be the final version posted in that thread.
Fantastic creatures everyone!
how do I get the html right? I have been trying to fix for posting on the final's thread but can't seem to get it right. Can anyone help?
Mhugo: Awsome Colors! Ive been trying to do something similar for practice this morning. Would it be okay to get some feedback, when I am done with it? Because I havent practiced a lot with subsurfacescattering until now...
lacks of imagination me. heh.
VegasMike Cool creature on the bottom left!!
Cool pieces going on so far from everyone. Here's a wip shot and my final.
Pretty good compo and concepts, excellent works there,
nice week.
PS: Mhugo-sozo: hats off. Amazing designs, just wonderfull creatures!.

Listened to your crits and took him through a few more stages of revision. Still not loving it, though...He kind of looks like he's frozen in the air. Also struggling a bit with the perspective of the legsMight just end up abandoning him, hahaha.

Screw this, I did a complete redraw of the legs and still not sure if it's better. Took some liberty with the muscles though cause I just like his buffness ^_^
Pretty much done otherwise.

Going to try to finish him in time, we'll see!
Ok so after many, many hours trying to wrap my head around this before the deadline these are the steps I've managed to make so far. Thinking I may call it quits here as I just can't seem to think of a way of improving it right now but I may come back to it at another time

There are some amazing creatures concepts ... fantastic works!
I haven't got time to finish mine but I thought I'd submit my WIP anyway. My idea was to have my creature running on four hind legs. He would have a large chest cavity to allow for greater distance stamina and still have a light frame. By having both legs on either side work simultaneously he could traverse a varying range of obstacles and still maintain his momentum.

great work everyone!I won't have time to finish, but thanks all so much for the cc. Good luck!
Hi guys, honestly i won't make it in time, i have unexpected work coming so I will just ask you some crits on de few details I had on his head.
Thanks everyone![]()
Lhune: I tried to arch it's back just a wee bit.
zy. Thanx, I thinkNo, it's not steam out of it's eyes. It's eyes are the 2 little bulbs up front.
Actually it was supposed to be a cloud in the sky, but now it kind of looks like it's steam out of its ears (or what that structure on the back of it's head is) - I might just keep it that way.
A sort of cooling exhaust.
Of course, It's not quite finished.
But this is kind of where it's going. Any thoughts?
