    Question Portfolio Critique and tips?

    Hello,
I'm new to conceptart.org and I wanted some help on my portfolio.
I'm planning on submitting this portfolio to art center soon and plan to try for Otis later in the illustration major. I would like to get as much feedback and tips as I can.
So what can I improve on? Should I leave out some pieces?

I'd suggest leaving out most of the sketchbook pieces. Leave in the hands.

I think the color pieces are the weak area, but that's not entirely unexpected at your level, so I doubt they'd knock you too heavily for that. If you have time, maybe do a simpler color illustration or still life to add some strength back into that area.

Your Illustrations look good, specifically your figure drawings. The only thing I have trouble with is that your concept characters look a little stiff.

I would suggest doing some gestural lines first instead of block poses to give your character illustrations some of the fluidity and organic feel that you figure drawings have.

Lastly when you are doing foreshortening you really have to go for it. If you look at the girl with the gun alongside the girl with the blades the weight of her arm never changes.

Great talent, good technique, just loosen up your illustrations and when you do that your unique style will come through.
