Hey Izzual! Fantastic job here! So many goodies lately! It’s good to see you’re working hard and with diversity. The last Bridgman studies from memory are great! I wish I could remember my studies that well. I see you’ve started life drawing class. Keep doing that, it’s a good opportunity to learn the right angles of the body. The camera lens often twists the perspective in the photo images. So that when you’re using it as a reference it affects the result. But what shall we do, it’s after all good that we have photo images to paint from meanwhile. I missed my life class this week, so I have to wait two weeks till next time
Thanks for the inspiration today! Keep doing what you’re doing, you’re improving every week!

Hey there Izzual, I just had a browse through your whole sketchbook. Your studies are really fantastic, the line quality in your figures works well and it's visible that you draw a lot, because the strokes are so confident. Maybe one of the things you could focus on next is light and shadow, because this seems to be a less strong area for you. I can see this especially because you shade mostly in gradients, with very few cast shadows (and this is probably because you are not so sure about them). It would definitely be worth studying how light works across very simple shapes, so you can gain confidence and apply them to your studies. Good luck my friend

    Kindly,
    Cedric

-> Ceddo : Thank you ! I've taken notice of your advice and I'll work more on light and shadows, I'll start this with simple forms as you said and then I'll complicate them, thanks a lot

You've got some nice work here, the figure and anatomy studies are coming along great! Awesome to see that you're trying to memorize the specific muscles of the body

these are great studies and a lot of them!!! Thats great you are on the right track so definitely keep them up. Do more training on values [greyscale] rather than color. Lets keep up mate !!!

Hello mate, the greatest thing is that you are fired up and working hard. At this step you will improve very fast. But dont go to the side of working mindlessly without thinking and solving the problems. Definitely keep up the anatomy studies, and keep working on your values. Read again and again loomis [creative illustration ] and go to the tones section and read it all again and again till you understand how to keep your values consistent. For example, a white hat in the light will be the most bright than everything else not dark, and in the shadow in will still be the brighter one [its shadow will be lighter than the other shadows]. Now strong lights mean strong shadows. These things are relative. You can find loomis books online so go and check that one. When you will understand the tones, color will come easier. Keep up the great work !!!

here just a simple paintover although it needs more work. Always remind yourself where your light comes from and stick with it. And dont put highlights everywhere [and putting highlight in the edge it flattens the form[[if the form is not flat it will flatten it so it causes problems]. Dont know what else for now , just keep up

Thanks a lot King ' ! I will be more careful about my lights and shadows, I have read the Loomis chapter (I hadn't yet taken a look at Creative Illustration, I had only read the figure draw one ^^) And I have taken back my J. Gurney book about Color and Light to complete it... I think I have to do a lot of work in values to see how the different types of light are acting...

Here are some bad studies... Next time I'll post a WIP of my bear... I'm trying to get good values on him...
