I´m afraid I´ve forgotten how to draw, damn it. soon I´ll finish my finals and I´ll be back to business.

I felt like updating this. just 4 days more til I finish my finals and I´ll be back to drawing 5 hours/day . can´t wait!
something I´ve been doing the past weeks. Most are still WIPs
Thanks for dropping by my sb, Lagarto! You've got a good sb going on here~ I really like the sketches you've made through observation- really good capture of form. My favourite sketches are of the eyes in #20 and the lips in #24~
it's not the end that matters but the journey
I finally have time for doing studies! yay! so, some of the studies I´ve been doing
I call this two as finished, because I started to hate them. specially the second one. what happened to her face? I really dislike it.
Hey! Looking pretty cool in here. c:
You've got a nice sense for posing, they're quite naturalistic. Your pencil anatomy studies look fantastic as well! You seem to have a great grasp of facial structure too, though I notice a lot of your ladies have the exact same nose.
I think you could be bolder in your choice of colours, especially for light and shadows. I see you've experimented with different colours in post #86, and those look really good! I say try to continue with it. Maybe try and do a portrait in completely wild unnatural colours? It might help break you out of your box.

Clur thank you so much! I´ve been trying to use more colors and different combination lately, but I still fill a bit scared of them. So, what you suggest is a great idea, and I will definitely do it, thanksand you are right about the noses, I tend to draw noses the way I think it´s more beautiful, but I should add more variety.
more work! I love summer, I have plenty of time for painting![]()
I´ve been polishing the Daenerys portrait. Also, a close-up of her face because I like how it´s looking and I want critiques. (please, I beg you! )
Another portrait study (the amazing original is here: http://dannyst.deviantart.com/art/Stranger-77-205498485)
and a screenshot study of one of my favourite films: fight club! I haven´t captured the awesomeness of Norton´s face, but... I tried.
more studies, and a close-up from a WIP from imagination
sketches from today! and more work on Daenerys´s portrait. Everything from imagination.
work from today! some fast color studies from landscapes, and some studies in progress
I think faces are getting better. If you haven't study skull yet, study it. It pays off. For your digis: try to paint in black and white some time. You will learn how to work with light and it will add depth to your pictures. Thanks for visiting my SB. Keep it up!
blu01 thank you!
I decided to participate in this week´s CHOW, so here´s what I´ve done till now. I changed his outfit a bit because it looked too much like a superhero. I would appreciate critiques on this one. also, a wip of a portrait I´m working on.
some sketches from yesterday. trying to practise landscapes, I need to get better at them.
I´m still doing landscape studies. I will get better at them!!!
I finished this week´s chow. Made me realize I lack a lot of skill in almost everything. So I´ll left it here and disappear for a while. I´ve been neglecting the fundamentals, and it´s a very big mistake. What´s the point in being able to render skin very well If I can´t even draw a proper hand.
So that´s it, I´m going to go back to anatomy studies, pencil sketches, b&w studies, and still lifes for a while.
I will also try to stay away from the internet ( I waste a HUGE amount of time), but I´ll keep updating the sketchbook.
great stuff, your certainly have improved in the last couple months!
kevin_ thank you! yes, I feel like I´m improvingstill not enough!
so, as I said, back to pencil studies.
Today I did some studies and after that a sketch completely from imagination applying what I had learned. I don´t know what I hadn´t done that before, since it´s a great way to fix what you have learned.
so, some studies after true blood screenshots, a guy with a sword after them; two dresses studies, and eye study and an eye from imagination and some sketches from imagination
Man this is great work ,like the way you start out each project with those kinda line works
Caribbean 3d Junkie..respect to God
He in one blood he and Eye
Good stuff you got here!
Try different positions for your portraits, this it will help you to build strong characters for every situation and mood!
Keep it up!

AbsorbenGhost thank you!
Black Sun S thanks! Yes, I definitely should. I usually stick to front or 3/4 view, which is not good.
More studies from today. first, as yesterday, two landscape studies and then a landscape from imagination. Also, a study in progress of an eagle, because I want to work more on this one: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1342130980
aaaand a cat I forgot to upload.
nice dedication and hard work on your painting skills ! keep up all your studies, maybe spend more time on the drawing before puting the colors over, and it'll be even better !! Keep it up !
kikindaface thank you!
not much to show, yesterday I couldn´t draw at all, and today I´m quite busy as well. so a portrait I did this morning. Started watching spartacus.
Today I hadn´t much time, but I practised portraits. Some pencil portraits (some referenced, some not) and a self-portrait! I hadn´t done one in months, and it´s the first digital. Could look more like me, but the next one will be better.
I zombified myself today. I did a selfportrait yesterday, and I decided to change it a bit. I like the result.
I don´t know if I will be able to do more today, so If I do, I´ll update later today.
Today I mostly centrated on this week´s chow, so the current wip for it, and studies for fabric textures. The jacket was exhausting, took me more than 2 hours. Also, a little update on a portrait (from imagination) from days back, and my eye from life
a question: it was just me, or have you been having trouble seeing the attached images today?
more work on the chow. Aplying what I learned with the jacket study. Looks like I´ll have to study boots too. any critic would be helpful - as with everything I post-
Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. Your work looks great! I can see from your studies that you are starting to ketch onto color relationships especially in skin tone. However your drawling from imagination are at times comparatively monotone. I think your characters feel more more lively (even the undead ones) when you lean towards a mix of purples, greens, and blues in your skin shadows rather than black or heavy brown. I think you do this well in #115 and the 2nd study in post #94 for example. I also love that you are starting to experiment with textured brushes, it really helps prevent that flatness that comes will over blending. Happy drawling :-)
CarmenJudy thank you so much! : ) I´ve been noticing an improvement in skin tones, as you say, they look more lively, months ago I was afraid of using "strange" colors like green or blue on the skin. I still have to loose a bit of fear.
Another update on the chow. The violin is so hard. Not satisfied with it. I still need to do a study of a boot, and work more on the background. I need to work more on her face too. The only doubt is If I will have enough time. Hope so!
Firstly, I'd like to compliment you on your sketchbook. You've made some really nice progress since your first post, especially when it comes to faces. Your bard piece is looking good - I only have a few minor crits for you. (Take them as you will!)
Her cheek gaunt goes a bit too far toward her mouth, I think. Shortening it up and perhaps trying to blend it slightly with her cheek would help. Other than that, though, you've got some great shadows and skin tone going on. Her eyes are gorgeous! The scarf looks more like a block of cardboard than fabric, so I would recommend adding more of a flow to it. When it comes to her position, the bend of her knees seems a little stiff and awkward, particularly on her right (our left) knee. The texture on her pants is very cool, though, almost like I could reach out and touch it. Overall I'd say you have a lot of potential for a great, engaging piece. Keep up the beautiful work!
