Awesome sketchbook!
Howie - I recommend it. You can have fun with color without worrying too much about other things.
Shorinji_Knight - Hey. Thanks for dropping by.
Humanoid robot thumbnails.
I imagine these could be for some some sort of deathmatch shooter game where you can pick different robot classes. Heavy but slow ones, light but fast ones and many variations inbetween.

T-Eight - Thanks! Glad you like it.
Hey. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. It's tough lately for me to do some personal stuff. I've done plenty of doodles and studies in my sketchbook but it's really not worth showing and I got lazy when it comes to scanning. Also I started to draw studies on much bigger format than before to get more looseness and accuracy. Hope it will work for the better.
For now one page with stuff done for fun. I tried to arrange it a bit to get something more visually pleasing.

Nice one, I like the efficient stroke work.
Take some photos of the bigger formats!
HunterKiller_ - I'll scan those large drawings when I there will be more of them. Thanks for dropping by.

Just some random studies.

All stuff today is studies from photos. I learned though how not to stick too closely to reference and simplify or change areas that don't read well.
I tried experimenting with vector program in this one. It's called Creature House Expression and it has one unique feature which is skeletal strokes. Gives a intresting mix of graphical and traditional look.
I included the image with all the paths highlighted. I like the way it looks.
The image was based loosely on Carter's Smith photo.

Hey. I'm glad that forum is finally updated and has new attachment manager. Finally updating won't be so tiring.
Few days ago I came back from the Behind the Iron Curtain 2 workshop in Bucharest. I met lots of cool people. Much more new friendships that I imagined. It also gave me a bit of energy to do more personal stuff. For now though I'll post stuff that I haven't shown yet.
Life drawings from the trip to Bucharest. Stuffed animals from Natural History Museum.
My friend Matei and some woman at the hostel.
Sketch from today. People at the train station in Gdansk.
I revised lots of old stuff to get more finished pieces for portfolio.
Latest fun with sculpting. I do this more to relax than to be professional.

good stuff, really liking your environments and vehicles! keep posting!
Iron curtain?!?! So jelly...
Stuffs lookin' gewd, mang. Especially like the profile of the woman character. Nice tones and colours.
About the 1st and 3rd enivros in the last post. I think they're lacking a strong focal point. There's lots of stuff to look at, but none stands out from the rest.
To elaborate, the sci-fi image has 2 people in different places doing stuff, there's an interesting device on the left, and the in the background there's a detailed construct which is also shining spot lights onto a truck - it's all competing for attention.
Of course, the fixes are numerous; you could remove elements, choose one to emphasis, change the composition/value arrangement, etc, you already know.
If it were me, I would make that canvas much larger, and push the building way into the background. The characters could be closer to the device so that compositionally they're one unit, rather than 3 separate subjects.
Just my 5 cents.

kevin_ - Thanks!
HunterKiller_ - Yeah. That blue sci-fi scene is very old piece and it went through few changes over the last two years. It had only mountain in the beginning but then I added some some building and lately characters beacause it felt too empty and I wanted to give it more storytelling. The scientists were supposed to be sort of secondary and tertiary focal points but it was then hard to establish the hierarchy of which one is more and which one is less important. Unfortunately fixing already established composition usually ends up with confusing focal point. I'll prevent myself from going crazy and finally leave that image alone. Of course thanks for suggestions. Always helps to see other point of view.
People drawn from life (train station).
Something I don't usually show. Background I did for adventure game that is being made at my work. It's communist city of rats.
Another attempt at designing Jim di Griz from "Stainless Steel Rat" novel.

2 hour environment sketch...

very promising sketch
nice textures and color scheme
but still it need to be finish![]()
last sketch looks nice, would be cool to see it fleshed out!
Bloody hell that last one!![]()
Thanks guys. I prefer to leave it rough. Polishing it more will just kill all the energy and loose the initial impression.
New 2 hour environment.

Hey. New update.
I've been lucky lately to attend more life drawing sessions than before. Unfortunately one hour per study is maximum for these classes so I don't have any polished stuff. Also I continue sketching some people at my new spot which is train station in Gdansk. Digital portrait is my coworker.

Great works!!! Hope you won't be too tired after work any more, I'd like to see more and more of your concepts!!!
The left side Alchemy sketch looks promising. Looks to me like some sort of futuristic, compact underwater skin/suit.
in2eternity - Thanks! I'll try to do more.
HunterKiller_ - Thanks, man.
I did plenty of life drawing lately and focused a bit more on rendering than my earlier stuff.
Character concepts done for fun. These are thugs which could be player's enemies in some dark future setting.

Just some random character ideas.

your life studies are absolutely GRAND
i love where your concept painting goes!
i notice in some of your environments, while being very detailed and well composed, the lighting seems to be lacking... this is just my gut telling me they could be even more than they already are, but just a thought.
AngeUnge - Thanks. I appreciate your advice. Gotta work more on the light.
Lately after browsing some Craig Mullins artwork I decided to experiment more and introduce more texture into my paintings. It's a long way till I will feel fully comfortable with more loose painterly style. I sometimes wonder if I should move into traditional mediums for a while to develop habit of thinking about every decision several steps ahead. Twenty minutes of focus and I go into autopilot mode which messes up everything. Unfortunately painting at work forces this bad habit.
