really like the final version.
Right here is everything lined up for the assigment. Production sheet is missing because that one isn't finished yet. Also I did not include my moodboard/ reference and studies off the camera we had to base ourselves on because I don't think those are interesting to watch.:p
(Also, sorry for the notes in dutch, I could not bring up the energy anymore right now to translate them).
If anyone can see a mistake please let me know.![]()
really like the process sheets.
The modelsheet is precise and well done. Nice work.
Hey, I really like your design ideas and your enthusiasm, it really reflects in your work
The detailed functions and schematics for the submarine is really good stuff, I really should get myself to analyze and explain my fictional machines as well as that
I do think you need to improve on your basics though, like perspective and material studies. I really like your anatomy studies, they show great promise of your talent!
As for the 3d scene, it´s really a well made large and impressive environment. Although, the whole scene would probably benefit from an Ambient Occlusion map on all the surfaces, to make it feel more dynamic. Also, the background grey image is kind of putting the mood down, and it´s bad because you have a wonderful mix of colors in your environment which gets bummed down by it.
I like your progress, keep up the good work and thanks for stopping by my SB![]()

Thx for the advice, still got alot of work with basics, I understand them, it's just putting them to good use that I still have to work alot on xD.
As for the 3D, I had to stick to the assigment, we had to use that background, and we couldn't use mix materials yet to putt a ambient occlusion on top of our tileable textures (which would indeed have looked much better).
I'm finally done with my exames so I have on week break that I can draw all the time atlast.![]()
Some quick robot sketches, going to make a painting of the last one but I'll probably end up changing his legs, they feel to small to carry the weight of the upper body.
Started painting the robot but didn't go quite as good as I'd like it too, so pushed it aside for now and started on some studies off whatever I could find on my desk:
Two studies of shots off the movie 'The Warlords':
man you're drawing like crazy! nice still lifes. and I like the scene with the silhouettes on horseback![]()
Thx, that movie has some AMAZING shots in it, I'll be drawing more stills from it tomorrow.
Two more stills:
really like the still life, especially the ones in post 38, my advice though would be to work more on your line work as I feel it is weaker than your rendering skills.
Yea i can get most rendered and make it look ok, it just takes forever atm:p mainly doing these studies to work on speed, i'm putting a clock next to me and don't go over a certain amount of time. And yea i'm working on my line, on paper atm, getting really clean lines digitally is really hard, i'll try to get them nice on paper first![]()
To practise perspective and improve my line quality (also to increase my understanding machinery)(it looked better on paper, stupid scanners xD):
Some more studies of mechanical parts and two fast doodles to try out some new custom brushes
Got bit bored off the studies and quick sketches so decided to sit down to do a decent (hopefully) painting (Gotta remember to safe some more steps next time).
like the last painting.
you're on fire, man. I feel that the nose on the portrait could be a little more defined, but an awesome piece none the less!![]()

I see what you mean, and I agree, i should have defined that nose just a bit more. Another one, a sort of selfportrait that does not look 100% like me but ah well![]()
Liking the paintings, but my crit would be to try and develop the forms more, I think that when you are blending your values your losing your forms a little bit, but nice work anyways.
Hey thanks for visiting my sketchbook! I really like the submarine that you worked on the detail in it is amazing.
I'm definitely subscribing to your sb![]()
will123will Thanks. About losing the forms, i'll keep that in mind. Had one of my teachers comment something simular on the submarine painting so, I'm trying to improve it. Its probably because i used to paint and draw traditionally and just losely indicate forms there.
alizak Thanks

I like the colours you used in the cyborg design - but just a small thing, her ankles and feet seem really tiny - perhaps they are a bit out of proportion?
Hey thank's for visiting my sketchbook !
The 3d Model on page 1 is really neat and that whole concept of the submarine is AWESOME!
Greetings
alizak Yup they are, I checked the original sketch again, they are bigger there, must have decreased in size while cleaning up (I made the larger now)
Robomat thanks
Fixes on the last paintings before I start off with the painting of today: (made the feet bigger on the first one and defined the nose a bit more on the last one)
Hey Topcross, thanks for checking out my sketchbook! You're off to a really good start here.
I like how you're so meticulous with your mechanical designs...and they look good too. I'd be really surprised if you didn't like drawing still life.
Also, good job on the knife and cell phone and just keep doing what you're doing. Later.

bish0p2004 Thanks.
Yes I really like drawing still life, or anything from observation really. It's only since i started digital arts and entertainment that I'm drawing more and more from imagination.
While waiting for my copy of loomis to arrive I decided to do some studies on some 'easier' stuff, cats today (sorry for the terrible stiching of the scan, I scanned one half off the page really badly (duh xD), also no need to say that my handwriting is terrible, I've heard that all my life already :p ):
Another cyborg character, was going for a more gladiator/executionor look here.
Looks heaps better now![]()
