You've got alot of passion for drawing you can tell, picture studies can only be so helpful in my opinion.I find Its best to try figure out what works and what doesn't from imagination so you'll learn the dos and don'ts the hard way. You should try some basic primitives first like cubes and cylinders and play with the lighting on some, I think it will help you alot! Good luck

blah added some stuff to help the composition, still a crappy drawing i know, should have made his arm shorter, but i thought itd make him unique. im not trying to make the anatomy and perspective and all that perfect was just thinking about mainly the composition and the design of the character. just working on this in between studying for a break. if i ever want to seriously work on it ill gather some reference and all that, this was just a sketch made from a silhouette.1 hour sketch

    Hi,

The last piece is really nice. Good understanding of colour, and it's a good composition, with altering areas of contrast. Keep up the good work.

Wow i actually understand certain things about the composition in this old master painting! im actually learning from the study, but its so simple the way hes using dark against light, the light shirt against the dark background , the back of the helmet thats darker against the lighter background, thats all on purpose.

heres some more progress on my master study, and some quick composition studies. i have more perspective/lighting/gestures,etc to post and ill scan them all in when i have time.

some quick and crappy lighting practice(15 minutes or so). when i have time ill scan in my gestures, and car+leg studies. everyday i have been doing pages and pages of freehand lines+ellipses and im actually improving at them, doing that to help me do vehicle designs.

-may do more detailed versions of this sort of study later on.

quickly rendered silhouettes, to take a break in between studying.. ill post the rest of my studies soon(tomarrow probably). its nice to have fun sometimes and do sketches like these., just thinking about making cool designs with these ones and rendering their basic forms out.

my main weakpoint that if i work on will help all my drawing is cars and perspective, so im going to work incredibly hard on those two things from now on.already drawn a few cars in freehand perspective that ill post later today.

You are surely one of the real hard workers here, I can see the amount of studies and paintings
that you do each day. You are maybe even doing too much or as I should say you are going
too fast, jumping from one study to another. I guess doing too much never hurt anybody, but
keeping certain amount of pauses between studies, so you could process the details and facts
that you actually learnt is an advisable thing. You know as they say, sleep over some things,
and the other day it will look differently in you own eyes. I like the greenish character in the
post #370, very good colors and values, and it’s an interesting character if you ask me. I would
go even further with the details, cause it could be a good portfolio piece. The texture that you
implemented later, I am not so proud about that, I think that the non textured version is better.
Bottom line is that you are creative and you have good ideas, the only thing that you should do now
is to increase your technical skills and value understanding. Composition is also important, but
I am not sure, if it’s play a big role at your stage of learning. Anyway, my thoughts are that you
should spend more time on one study and think more about each and every move that you do.
These last armor silhouette sketches are way to cool, if you’ll have the time, chose one, enlarge it
and try to render out the material and make it even more shinier. Have a good day sir,
take care and keep on posting, cause that is the only way that you’ll improve even more.

thanks man, really ltPlissken that's the best advice i have ever gotten by the way i found a way to do mirror sketches in photoshop, by using actions, thats how i did those silhouettes.i wil work hard and spend longer on studies, gotta keep pushing myself.

Looking interesting and proud this new tricycle. It’s something like a mixture of a bicycle
and motorcycle. Shining wheels makes the spider to steal. Maybe if you want them to turn
and roll on a regular basis, the wheels should be hundred percent round. I also like the green
zombie guy, you did some changes on him, which makes him even more serious and even
more dangerous. I think that you should definitely keep up the good work, and we will
    await for your scanned drawings.

Just had a look through your whole sketchbook. Really nice! LtPlissken already said what I wanted to say, both about your studies and the wheel of your motorcycle. I was also happy to see you put some red in the shadows. It really helps the piece.

Your midtones are mostly the same hue of green, which is kinda cold and gives a gray feel to it. Something you can do to work even more with the piece is add some different warm greens (some tones of olive, maybe even closing in on ochre and browns). Be subtle about it. Don't want them to look pasted on there, but more like a natural shift of the skin's tones.

Keep up the hard work! will be coming back for more!

thats a great idea for the skin tones, i knew it needed an extra something, haha and i definately gotta make sure the wheels are round.

    thanks

quick gestures, car studies(freehand),anatomy study from animal anatomy Gnomon vid, and some creature sketches.- i also randomly worked on that older oil painting when i was bored.

-most of these drawings are really fast and in pen, and i didnt use any rulers on the cars; been practicing freehand lines and ellipses everyday(waaaay too many to scan in), but the process still is far from perfect. most of these aren't pretty, because they're not meant to be, they're just to help me learn, though later im going to do some more detailed portraits and still lifes(along with characters and all that).

I have also been working on my own technique for drawing using pen, pencil, and colored pencil for smoothing things out, which also helps because the wax makes it to where the drawing cant get smudged away. I usually start them in pen lately though because i have been trying to improve my freehand pen drawing.

blah, just for fun i made a quick car profile based on the bike design(well its mostly just pieces of the bike put together. i thought it would look cooler as a car and im right, cause it can drive on water haha. I was thinking that if you were working on a movie youd have to make a ton of different designs that were similar so thats why i did this.

sticking with profile designs for now for the rendering and easier to make the design, once i get more of a feel for it going to try perspective ones, after more study of course haha. its pretty flat i know but thats okay for now, still learning.
