Same arms, faster, paying attention to the muscles instead of just drawing what I see. Trying not to look at the book.

Strapping some torsos onto my new pairs of legs! First image was reffed, second image completely imagination (I drew them on fresh pages and turned off my monitor so I couldn't cheat).
I find that the more I think the less mistakes I make, but the less I think the higher the overall quality of the image. huh.
Man, I unlearned arms in like a month. Scary! But I got it all back and more in less than a week, so I guess that's progress?

Really good work in this sketchbook, nothing much I can crit. The only thing I can probably say for now is that your isolated studies look stronger than the full figures, and that's something you can work on. Especially the last post, there are some minor issues with overall balance - but that probably happened because of the emphasis on design.

The way you apply clean lines in your studies is great, and the way you're studying, I'm sure you'll be awesome in no time. Also, love the angry Squirtle on your avatar.

Keep doing what you're doing, it was a pleasure dropping by.

EDIT: Also, I was thinking, maybe you could try putting down some facial features during your torso studies. I know that it isn't the point, but you do get some extra practice at heads/faces in perspective, so it might not be such a bad deal.

@ Vritra : Thanks I agree, I should be putting faces down. It's pure laziness that keeps me from doing so so it is probably something I should start. thanks for dropping by!

Hah ha, lazyness, huh? I know all about that one. You're very diligent for a lazy person, though, so don't worry about it. And it's always good to take a step back and reevaluate your situation once in a while.

Loving the last work. You could probably push the area of focus around the face (?) a little, just darken the darks, use some sharp brushes et cetera. The top half has a real dynamism that I'm liking a LOT.

    @ A Faux : Thank you!
@ Vritra : Thanks, haha. Very true. About the last piece, totally agree. I only had an hour so all of the motion blur and such was just to save time (laziness ^__^). I'd love to spend more time on it, but I think I'm probably not gonna get around to it. :Teeth:

Ah, faces at last. I sure look weird commenting after every post but I noticed a couple of things so I thought I should leave a quick comment.

On the second guy (the one looking up), the left shoulder is placed higher than the right shoulder. It looks off because the pectorals on both side look the same. If that arm was higher, then the pectorals and nipple would definitely be affected by it. Also, on the third guy, the neck is really thick, and the big eye, sharp nose, and lip position makes it look 'manga' (a little, not that that's necessarily a bad thing). The lip positions overall need a bit of work, I think.

Hope you don't mind the crits. Just putting them out there because I think you're doing great.

@ Vritra : Yep. All true. One thing to note about the faces is that I pretty much made them up. The third guy was a photo of a guy giving his victory scream which is also why the neck looks so weird. In retrospect, enormous fail.
I love the crits. They help
    Thanks again bro!

I haven't got much sleep recently, so I'm going to be napping tomorrow, but on Thursday I'm gonna start pushing real hard.

This tunnel You're working on is phenomenal dude, great colors, especially on the light hitting the wood at the top. Well done.

Hey man, really cool updates. I like the one you did following Arne, really expanded your colour range. I think maybe doing some studies from him might help you open up even more. The way he shifts hues from light to shadow and yet manages to retain authenticity - he truly is great.

Also, I'm liking this one, just watch out for the hollow created by the hand as it wraps around something. Make sure you don't place the spear where fingertips should be.

Also, the lighting in the last tunnel is great. Maybe place a hanging lamp/lantern there to expand the lighting? Either way, great work - you're definitely going to kick ass soon.

@ Art Minded : Thanks I'm glad you like it
@ Vritra : Yeah Arne is a master. About the ranger character (with the spear) I really like the armor design but I think all the anatomy on him is trash. These character 'studies' are just to expand my visual library really (to the point where all the armor I draw is cool haha) Thank you!

Strengths from my mind, weaknesses from bridgman. I think I might just quit painting for a while (month or two) and just draw really well instead.
