    Smile Natascha's work

First of all, I'm already here for half a year, but I hardly posted anything. That is mainly because of school. I have a lot of work for school. I study printing technics(graphics) and illustration (I hope I translated it well).
The main art I'll post here will be work for school, because that's what I mostly do: working for school
    I mainly work from observation.
Here are already some drawings from this year (I have more then 100). more will come later, if I have some time to update, and newer and better work.

Agreed with above, that tree study is really great. I also like the weaving machine thing-y, I'm not sure, but I like it.

good inks, the stair in the last one is nicely done because I can feel the bright sun that is shining on it.
hmm... just one question, aren't you using watercolor instead of ink or am I just confused?

I should definitely update this thread more!
    Here are some more works:
an aquatint and some handpainted hairclips (with Emilie Autumn on it)

I have made more than this. lately I make a lot of jewellery. But I don't think it belongs here.
I have also a lot of school work to upload, but it takes a long time since I have to edit all the pictures because they are mostly 200kb to large
most of my work is on facebook (my name is Natascha Mattens, or natascha's art) or on my website www.artparadise.be

This week, I plan on making a large drawing. It's the first time I'm really back to drawing in this holiday. The only thing I did with drawing/painting is a commission (which I'll upload later) and those hairclips

okay, drawings from the previous post started with the newest first and ended with the oldest (august)
The last two are btw drawn after rembrandt & caravaggio

Did some bird skull sketches today. I really missed my pencil, and just doing some practice sketches. I know the teachers won't even look at it.. because we have to continue produce real art, no practice sketches (though sometimes practice sketches look better than what I should make as real work). The everlasting discussion: are my drawings drawings or sketches. (not this bird skull one, but the other ones I posted)

More skulls, and now I'm tired of them
Tried a bit more different media again. actually I am well-known with most of them (especially inks)
But for once, I think I like the pencil ones the most, and the brown ink one (the one done with a brush)

Ps, how do I change the tumbnail of the topic (I really don't like that old drawing anymore)

Didn't make any more skull drawings.. can't find any colored paper at home aarrrg!
But at least I did some other things.

    some cat sketches

    some train sketches

and some drawings from model classes at school. I have only the small ones with me, the big ones are still at school.

and as you see, I'm a bit in a pencil mode. I haven't drawn for years with pencil (because they don't want us to draw with pencil at school). And it has been soo long i really did some studies. There is not much difference between my drawings and sketches. What is the difference anyway? every drawing is for practice, and every sketch can be a good drawing.

The Rubens and Rembrandt sketches are from last week I think. (the small colored sketches)

I also worked a bit on my big selfportrait in an abandoned room drawing for school. It's 1.5m width. (the black and white one).
I wonder what they will think about this one at school.

I am also going to try to post everything I make here. I hope to get some feedback. And most important; that it will help me to continue drawing everyday. (I have those days/weeks I hate everything I made)

I loved the dismembered head, you make watercolor look easy. That last piece has great mood to it, what medium is it? You seem to have a stubbornness that an artist needs to develop, I especially see that in your many skull sketches. Keep up the good work!

The dismembered head is a drawing after the medusa painting from Rubens
watercolor is easy, sometimes, when you work with it every day for a long period of time
the last piece is done with ink, charcoal and white pastel chalk.

Thanks for that compliment! I wished I was everyday so active as I am at some moments. Some moments I draw like crazy, other moments I want to trow my pencil/brush/whatever to the wall. But all I want is to get better, since I'm never happy enough. Only way to get better is to draw a lot!

You are absolutely right! I tend to forget these things. Only my facebook is really up to date. All the rest has some missing periods of months-years. I'll try to do my best this time to keep it up to date!

There is a sort of "dark side" in all your drawings.
