In Brussels center for some time now... hoping to go to La Cambre
Hope another will join us![]()
Gent here. Loads of girls to draw here. (Jens can vouch for that). We should make this a monthly thing...
Here too load of girl... living between the two campus of the ulb, no far away from La Cambre and so on
Seem that I'm the only french speaking belgian here too![]()
Hehe, cimetière d'ixellesI've been living there for years
![]()
ok 4 belgen/belges so far.. we can start playing cards now.
Drumwhore : exactly... nice cemetaryI can see it from my windows(badly. Need to buy a longer neck
)
We can play card or start drawing maybe?![]()
start drawing.. there's a thought
always welcome in Gent for a small gathering.. just say the word
bralt hannicart from gent reporting inhehe Gent rocks! but i'm originaly from near Kortrijk
yow yow... Ik ben woon tussen leuven en mechelen, maar loop school in St Lukas brussel.
(J'habite entre Louvain et Malines, mais je étudie à St. Luc à Bruxelles)
Yeah, but what? :p
Do some of you know a good shop with Chavant clay, sculpey or thing like that on Bruxelles?
And did anyone know where I can find a drawing board? Bruxelles too... (Or Brussels. Or anything you can imagine to call it, personally I call it the fucking place where I live)
Orban: maybe there's a shop you'd want to try, it's 'schleiper', located at 151 chaussée de charleroi, near the place stephanie.. I don't exactly know if they have scupley or an equivalent, but I surely do know they have a lot of artistic matierial, inclunding clay.
If not, I still know another art shop near the 'bourse', where I bought some clay a few months ago. I just dont know he exact address.. although I can look for it if you need it
hope this helps
:chug:
edit: what do you mean exactly by 'drawing board'?
I know pretty well schleiper, most of my paper, pen, brush and so on come from thereBut the only they got is normal clay and some kind of plastiline(without sulfur). Main problem with plastiline, is that I can't find info on what to use to paint it, nor if it will resist a long time...
And normal clay isn't usefull to sculpt figure for example - a bit too rough(And I don't have an owen to bake it)
A studio table, (tekentefel, table a dessin). Like the one architect use and like many artist - my easel is usefull to paint but to draw... erhm. I hope to find one's cheap.
You got your 7th Belgian (I always liked that number for some reason).
I live in Limburg, studying communication and multimedia design. Nice to see some other "belgen" on the board![]()
quick note for the insiders (= belgen/belges): keep the second weekend of august free, for a gathering in gent. the idea is to get together with ~10 people and do lifedrawing, maybe some demo's and location sketching... this is not for belgians only, but because it's "just a weekend" i guess the people who live "nearby" will be the first ones to fill the spots.
i'll keep you posted...
if you have any suggestions regarding the matter, let's hear them
cheers
Got no week-end plans in august, so I guess I can be counted in.
the 8test belgian represents
told you before hyver
great idea and close the door (don't think english people use this expression now that is all typed up )
awaiting belgian number 9
destruction by creation , creation by destruction
Citizens of earth,
Everybody seems to agree: workshops are a great thing.
Lack of time and money has prevented myself from attending the ones that have been, and it sucked every time.
So, I figured why not organize a little something myself. Close to me. Cheap.
I'm not organizing a CA workshop. Not even a workshop. Just a weekend thingie. Getting together, having some fun and draw a lot. No big names (yet), no big demo's, just a weekend starting friday the 13th (yeey) in the evening (arrival) and closing sunday (15th) late afternoon. August, for those wondering
![]()
The plan:
-lifedrawing sessions (models are booked for two days - yes, females)
-a quick tour of the midieval centre of Gent, including a visit to one of the masterpieces in oils: the adoration of the mystic lamb by the Van Eyck bros
-environment sketching in the Gravensteen castle
- whatever you guys can think of.. speak up!
the fineprint:
I'm aiming for a group of ten (10) people. I tried my best to keep this as cheap as possible. Hence, we stay at a youth hostel. I reserved a room for 4 and one for 6 people. 15.75 per night per person. This includes breakfast. The fee is 60euro for the two nights, including breakfast, models fee and entrance tickets . Add a budget for the other meals (free for all) and expenses in getting here, and you're all set.
What I need from you if you wanna join up:
email with a confirmation (i'll just pay for everything in advance myself, and you pay the fee on arrival - so i'd regard that as a promise)
lmk what you think - open for discussion, ideas, rants, suggestions!
i probably forgot a whole lot right now, so i'm sure more info will pop up soon
hoping for ten other enthousiasts...

Will it take place in August? Since it's not written :p
And since it's going to be a Belgium thing, the problem of the language comesWill it be allright to only speak french, english, a bit of German and nearly nothing in dutch??? (I'm not proud of it, but I have a hard time learning Dutch for nearly nothing... I'm a shame, I know that.)
And last thing, seem that my girlfriend agree I come by, but to be confirmed... You know girl![]()
First off, this is not a Belgium-thing only.. anyone who's willing to make the trip is welcome. And i think language should not be a problem at all... it of course depends on the group, but i guess engslish would be the main language anyways... My french isn't all that either, so i understand your point very well
Btw tnx for the august thing - i totally missed that (edited now).
Also, tell your gf she's welcome to come as well (wow that sounded almost like poetry).
cheers
