Advice for drawing with Grafik Tablets

Hello everyone my name is Pedro and im 20 Years old. I love to draw and love to create stuff like storys , games and others ^^ and yes im a swiss guy.

But for my question now.
I got from my dad a Grafik Tablet (Wacom Bamboo CTH-470) and i realy damn happy to have this thing 3.

But im kinda having problems to use it cause im not use to draw with them :/ so i would be happy if there be some guides how to learn how to draw with a grafik tablet and the other thing is that when i draw with it my hand cramps up.... Is this anyrthing i should be worried about or is it just that im not used to the tablet drawing?

I'm hoping to get a wucik anwser and proud to be on this site :3 thx again

You'll have to get used to it. I remember the user guide had practices on how to learn how to coordinate.

Make sure when you're in the Wacom Tablet properties you FORCE PROPORTIONS so that it's correctly mapped to your monitor. Otherwise your circles may look like ovals.

If you have a Windows PC you can start with a simple graphics program called Open Canvas

i know how to draw and i know about open canvas but doesn't it cost? i mena i saw it being sold.

i know how to draw but i though open canvas has to be buyd and btw i already have photoshop and paint sai and gimp^^ anything good in that?

.. The program you will be using is (mostly) just a tool.

It's very seldom a question about the tool, it's a question about the artist.

Since you have those programs, then go ahead and use them. From personal experience, I highly suggest you start out with SAI.

Drawing in with SAI feels somehow more comfortable than Photoshop, and, it's a more simple, straightforward interface.

Also, install the drivers that came with the tablet, then hte programs will pick up the pressure you put on the pen, and (depending on how you set it) the lines will become thicker when you press harder, or less paint will come on the canvas when you press softly (two different settings mind you).

Also, as to where to start. If it's just a question of getting used to the tablet, do what Arshes said. go into thetablet settings ad force proportions. Secondly, just start with something basic, like squares, circles and basic stuff. Get used to shading spheres and cylinders first with the tablet, before you go into more advanced stuff, as in producing artwork.

Thirdly, open up (and update regularly, as opposed to me) your own sketchbook here on CA. And listen to the comments people here give you. Everyone's attitude here is pretty positive, and we rpactise constructive critisism. Oh, and we bother because we care
