Long time admirer of the work here.
I think it's time I set about posting my progress to keep me focused. Here's my first self portrait in oil

nice start to your book. I really like that skull you just did, all the planes and the forms are rendered very nicely. keep going!
those rendered studies are pretty damn nice.. one crit, get rid of the heavy outline around things.. are you treating it sort of like a shaded contour drawing? if so, vary the line wieght so that the lightest and thinnest line is in the light area, instead of vice versa.. after enough enough practice you wont even need that..
JackalAnubis - Thanks mate. Love your work
MainLoop - Thanks for the advice. yeah I'm still learning, Checked out your stuff its tops

Nice stuff, really like the studies. On the Michaelangelo one though, I don't think he's quite that bulky is he? I don't have a picture of it so I can't be sure. Then again, I guess it takes a little time to work up to the Michaelangelo level huh?![]()
Thanks for the crit SeraphSword.
Yea my Michaelangelo study was bad proprtions from the start,
but it was fun
Man...
it would take me more than my lifetime to work up to Michaelangelo.
But I do hope to improve and am stoked you commented.
More work on my girl character (New to this type of drawing)
I'm very impatient with my imagination and find it difficult to push through to an end.
I find when drawing from life I have much better patience

It looks like you have a similar problem to me, my friend. Drawings from life= awesome(in your case) alright (in my case), Drawing of the top of your head= your's ordinary, craptastic in my case. I would recommend using references for your chick, and look at proportions more. But seriously..those hand drawings, the paint tubes and the pear+fag lighter....Shiiiit! You've got some talent there boy!
Your anatomy studies really kicks ass! I also like the still life with the vase! Keep 'em coming! Your showing great potential, man.
d-C
got to do some serious
MORE and MORE and MORE>....
