Yesterday and today's work, those are all stuff painted from pictures, with colors recreated from a Zorn-like palette.

Great work Panshi, the colours and values in these are amazing.

The landscape is coming along, looks like a pretty tricky task getting the lighting down on those bones though. Good luck

I'm only really asking this because I wanna try out some of these movie stills, but what is the average time spent on one of these? and also whats a Zorn-like palette

    Thanks Jacky-Boy!
I spend 2 hours on each, just to set a time limit, and Zorn was a Swedish painter famous for his ability to capture human emotions in his oil portraits. He used a palette that now bears his name, and goes something like the one below, which is the one I used for the two last portraits. You'll find plenty of image references if you google 'Zorn palette', but I advise you not to use them to sample your colors, since most of them are photos taken from actual palettes, hence variations in hue caused by ambient lights and camera settings. Instead, try to create your own palette from digital colors found on the web, or copy this one if you like it :-)

Good luck with those movie stills, you'll see, that's a great way of practicing!

aww thanks Panshi that's a real help I'll definetly play around with this palette in my next paintings. Zorn seems like a pretty cool artist too, i love the use of light in his paintings.

Today I did this 3h work, using this cool lay-in palette from 19th century French Academy, then the landscape palette I used for the two previous landscapes.

Nickybeats: it's my first sketchbook, but yeah, I found another Panshi on DeviantArt, a Chinese guy who draws with manga style.

Here is a rough study for a personal work, the idea being a priestess walking into a sacred pond of blood to ask the favors of a giant guardian. I started from a sketch done on Alchemy. It's the first time I start a work like that, but it's really funny, I invite you to try, if you haven't already!

    All the best,

    Panshi.

Thanks for the comment Panshi, it's certainly motivating getting a comment from an artist like you! Great stuff, the mountain landscape stands out the most to me.
Wish I could be more helpful but I don't think I'm yet at the level to be criticizing artist of your level.

Here is a little improvement, I spent most of today on another painting, so it doesn't look like much.. I post it anyway, so you can criticize!

Here is a speedy concept of male and female Khajiit (a race you can choose in the Elder Scrolls video game saga). I'm a huge, huge fan of this saga, having played the Morrowind opus for like 2000 hours, which almost made me fail my first year of high school (yeah, it was that bad). One thing that sucks, though, is that the Khajiit race has always been kind of ugly, like fat cat headed, rough fur and grotesque allure. Nothing of the noble grace and natural charisma that usually goes with cats, lions and such.

I thus tried to convey a more tribal, warrior touch to those noble beasts, adornating them with silver ethnic jewellery, and "feasting beast" war-paint (I imagined they'd dye the area surrounding their mouth to look more fearsome in battle).

The ear-pendent and tiara jewels are moon-sugar crystals, a substance for each every Khajiit has a sweet tooth. So it's pretty (for them I guess!), and can be used as money in case of utmost need.

Thanks for watching, jeez, I feel like I'm 15 all over again!
