Update of my Goddess of soaps

"Only put off till tomorrow, what you are willing to die left undone." -Pablo Picasso
I really like this week's topic. I have a couple of ideas I was tossing around while I was at the gym. The mention of the tooth fairy made me think of something like the magazine subscription fairy who every time you toss out a magazine subscription from a magazine puts it back in your next issue and multiplies it by two.
Or a child god who rules over playground games and decides the rules of 4 square.
Probably my favorite is a god/goddess of nightlights. It would live inside the nightlight and his only power would be really awesome shadow puppets which it would use to scare away larger more terrifying monsters from children's closets.
Anyway, this weeks topic sounds fun, as soon as I get the chance I'll post some thumbnails and any other gods I can think of.

update, The goddess of bowls final sketch, whenever you find that you have less cereal than you originally poured she probably sent it back to her fellow dish gods and goddesses to stash for themselves.![]()
oops did not read the rules properly...
This theme is fun, so full of possibilities. I'm thinking about creating the god of critical failure dice rolls or something equally nerdy.

I'm thinking about
a) The (malvolent) God of Russian Roulette, or
b) the God of that one thing you desperately need which lacks exactly one small, but necessary part, e.g. one part of your laptop charger, or the lens cover of your camera, or the cap of your pen when you want to put it in your backpack. Or
c) The God of things you know you own, but have no idea whereever the fuck they are!

Now crit the shit out of me!
mmmm, not feeling it.
i might redo this entirely. I'm not feeling the "god" in it. o well, heres an update anyhow.

@captain surge wow you are good with drawing on the tablet. its so clean
@ elhero perhaps make the halo brighter color or glow or make the god more muscular, but it does look like a god if you played shin megami tensei games before.
update before i sleep

I just realized i'm kinda going offtopic since it's not clear at all what kind of god is this.. so i guess i won't finish it but i really had fun trying new stuff and colors on this little guy![]()
diety of flies in your food, but i might change that to diety of annoying flies in your bedroom... becaus i gotta say that's worse
![]()
So I was sketching at darts last night so this seemed like a good idea.
Fat little drunk Irish type god who makes you hit singles when you need trips' and trips' when you need singles!!!
I think I like number 4 the best.....
thoughts?

I always get displeased at this stage but I started painting some of it, hope you all like it.
i'll do the ironic god of the unfinished drawings and probably i wont finish it
possibly the final version before final submission
elhero, how about epic glowing magical runes on his body\equipment? And yeah, glowing halo could help with the god-look. Anyway, good work!
jolen, whoooa, that's a pure evil) makes me think of "a god of annoying mosquito squeak at the middle of the night", these guys are brothers, i suppose =D
AndreaC, aww, that's such a pity =( Wanted to see him finished... Chars sheet looks really good.
And here goes something sketchy) In the darkest deeps of your backpack an evil deeds are done =D
What a fun topic. Don't know how much time I'll have for this.
Here's a sketch: goddess of garden pests
Protector, procreator, and distributor of all those irritating garden pests such as mealy bugs, white flies, aphids, etc. They seem to appear out of no where, multiply at alarming rates and can be excessively difficult to irradiate.
The goddess is not purposefully malevolent. She just loves these abominable creatures and wants to give them the best which happen to be your well cared for houseplant. She has also developed a dislike for humans because of their desire to kill these "innocent" creatures.
Heres the start for my God (of stubbed toes) that has the power to direct your big toe towards the nearest solid object.
okay, here´s my first batch of sketches for the "Verucca Gnome"
Anybody here who´s read Pratchett and especially "the Hogfather"
should have a good idea about it. If not, the name should speak for
itself.![]()

update on my Goddess of Mushroom still in WIP
Hey guys I'm back! I decided my character, considering this is CHoW, needed a bit more identity/costume design, so I've come up with this for my goddess of oversleeping. Now to work out my composition.. hoping to do that by the end of tonight![]()
Verruca Gnome progress.
I think I want him dressing as sharp and smart as he can and taking care of
his body. He might be ugly, but that does not mean he can´t take his own
bodycare to the hightest possible level. Talk about metrosexual. This almost
compulsive behaviour is probably brought on by his "job". I think I want him
dressed in a gleaming, rubber pinstripe suit with protective, medical, gloves.
Even tiny gods go with the times.

i decided to play more with bird feature idea, quick sketch.
Its been forever since I've done a CHOW I miss it... just been to busy.
Anyway I saw this thread today and love the topic.
It totally reminds me of the Tim Pratt short story Little Gods not
sure if anyone has linked it yet, but I didn't see one. If anyone wants
some good inspiration it was published in Strange Horizons and in an
audio version on PodCastle fantasy story podcast.
http://podcastle.org/2010/06/01/podc...6-little-gods/
I will warn you though it is quite an emotional story, its great but you
might need a tissue before the end.
Anyway I probably won't be able to finish this up but I worked on it a bit
to take a break from other stuff today, so I thought I would post what I
had so far.
The Goddess of Self-Doubt - full of venom and malice, poison pours from
her dark lips as her soft whispers destroy confidence and self-esteem.

I'm always trying to improve.
Any help, encouragement, crits,
or comments are greatly appreciated!
Please let me know what you think
Awesome stuff everyone, I'm enjoying this thread, damn I couldn't think of anything interesting enough for this topic, maybe something will hit me by Sunday, though I doubt it, lol xD
My favourite so far is the god of tangled earphone knots, so cool idea and concept =D
Really hope I get time to finish this one- what a great topic. Loving everyone's so far.
WIP:
The Capricious God of Toasters. He's a violent warrior god - his sword is a toasting filament and his shield is a settings knob where all the settings are BURN.
God of Mold
This god is why mold occurs.
Her fingers infects all it comes in contact with.
The god of mold is always misunderstood, and wanders in loneliness, despised by all.
This god is blind and moves very slowly and drags her old clothes, which is the only thing left of when the god was in it's prime.
She can be summoned by leaving food and the like on the table.
Be patient and give her time to arrive.
Be watchful for when she is there, her infection will spread rapidly.
Small making of:

I started this Wednesday and have to submit it at the state it is in, because I won't be near a computer in the weekend. Really nice competition and theme.
Good luck to everyone, looking forward to see all the small gods!
