Hey! You are absolutely right, I'm trying too hard to channel someone, should loosen up more. Thanks for the wake up!
Here are two quick doodles, mostly combining new colors, seeing what works and what doesn't.

Love your saturated colors (#103 especially). I am striving for something like that too. Are you able to select these color schemes right away, or do you apply some balancing in photoshop later? Keep it up!![]()
My sketchbook - Please, help me growCritique very appreciated
What a wonderful sketchbook! I love your environments and you're developing a really great style.
Please drop by my sketchbook and help me improve!
Thanks bobtailGlad to hear!
Thanks! It really varies how I get to my colors. The last two were all mostly chosen colors (here and there using some color balance and hue/saturation adjustments). The one in #103 started from black and white and was colored using a gradient map and soft brushwork in an overlay layer. Someone else asked me how I created it as well, so made a quick step by step, perhaps you find it useful. You can find it here: http://sta.sh/0chy87dmp6v

Love your updates, especially #121. Nailed the colors on the bottom piece : )
May I say that, like Mutiny mentioned in a latter post, your work gives too much of a tom scholes vibe. His advice was spot on, think on what you are drawing and the style will come by itself.
Nevertheless you've got great skill. : D
Thanks. These latest two weren't even intended to be Scholesy, guess I'm really drenched it in :p
Did some portrait work to keep up those, been doing only landscapes lately.
Freshened up an old portrait and did a self portrait. God those are awful to do :p

Great shapes mate!!!Lets see, because the style is consistent in these pieces i cant say something, they look finished. Now its up to you to see what stuff you want to improve fundamentally and how to form your next path.Keep pushing!!!

Thanks man, really appreciate your effort in helping out
Been working on a animated project all day, got home tired as fuck, did this silly thing to relax, now I'll go lower my eyelids.
I know... It's another Scholesy figure. I'm going to do different! :p

Another quick color sketch. I should start making them a bit more complicated. Start pushing myself more.

Ooh , I love the latest three warrior sketches. Great composition![]()
Love those landscapes. You've got a sweet style to it
Awesome, don't loose the immediacy of this stuff. It's good!
Charming work, you've got this nice ambiance going on.
nice range of skills you're developing. I like your use of color, very nice. Your portrait studies are starting to get really good.
Wow, you're improving leaps and bounds, thanks for the inspiration!
Also lovely cartoony style in the last couple of posts. Keep rocking it dude!

Your environments are coming along man, while they may not be rendered out to a high extent, they always hold that potential and are interesting even at this point. What i really dig about your concepts is your color pallet, very unusual and intriguing!
lovely mate, cant wait to see that one further developed!!!

Thank you so much all, really appreciate all the kind words, help me keep motivated! I really do!
Here's a painting I did a while ago, never finished. Gave it some more touch-ups so it has a finished look, though there's plenty that should need work. Shoulder looks a bit odd (though those really often look odd in real life too), I dunno. Not in a mood to work on it any longer. It's the same character as in the last quick sketch, just different outfit.

Really love the colors and mood in this last one!
The face look about alright but the rest is out of proportion. Her right arm is too small and you should see more of her left shoulder from this angle. For a more dynamic pose, try rotating her hip more to the right. Also, I get a feeling you've put her ab muscles a bit too high. Not going to say anything about the torso ratio because unlike in art books people have different bodies.
Too bad you don't feel like working on it anymore because it has a lot of potential.![]()
Heavily adjusted the image above, hope the anatomy changes did any goodTried to add a little bit more of a scene too.

Hi Overtoom, u have some nice work here!
I did a fast overpainting of your last piece, hope its k to post it here if not just tell me and i gonna delete it.
Some things that I've noticed:
- theres hardly any reflected light on ur character like in her face on the lit side the shadow under her brows propably wouldnt be that dark because of reflected light from her cheeks.
- the shadow doesnt seem to effect the hair on the shadow side
- you can easily push all the metal parts by increasing the contrast between light and dark areas.
- Just one lightsource make it appear flat. Add a second one to show more of the form.
- try to give more color variety. All the parts are pretty monochrome.
- her abdomen muscles are overdone imo.
etc.
I hope it's somehow helpful.

Thank you so much Lakai! Please do post it, it's much help to me, and perhaps to others as well, so do not fredAppreciate it a lot! Those are some great points I will remind for future works, especially the dual lighting is something I should really use more and practice with. So thanks a gain
Here are two quick concepts I did of two characters I'm trying to make up for a story. Didn't have much time, but I think the Queen turned out quite ok.

Nice changes to the warrior pieceit looks far better. Wonderful advice from Lakai aswell.
I'm grinning like an idiot at these last two paintings. They look stunning. Love the color palettes on both of them and the awesome textured brush marks.
You should've put some lights on the queen's dress, hair and arms, like how the brow part of the face is lighted, because the image is overall too dark.
You can push out the contrast on the (dog?) king painting too.
Thanks for the feedback SleeplessDefinitely some things to consider.
Here's a quick painting, trying some more neutral palettes.

It's fine posting either way
the second one posted, the one with the cactuses, has a scott wills feel to it.
really nice mood you got in the last one.
love the giant scene, composition works well and the color sceme has potential, the greys makes me want to see that giant emerge out of a thick fog.
