Pavel- Thanks man. It's still a little frustrating that the "best" piece in my portfolio was done a year ago. I have something to show next week that might be able to rival it... I really wanna show this piece! Check back next week-ish?

Thanks Luskan, I really want to re-visit that one. I just got some "bigger" contracts (lots of work), so I don't think I'll be able to do it any time soon.

Here's an update for something I know I'm good to show. I have quite a few pieces I can't show until a good amount of time from now. Oh woe is me.

This particular piece was for Rite Publishing. They put out a Pathfinder e-zine every month and I did the cover for December. The work was the banner and the gnoll, for the final they put some brown texture stuff on what I was using as a background while painting the gnoll (which is seen here as that purple-ish/blue-ish...gray-ish flat color).

I've been trying to think of ways to present that piece. I know a lot of publications pay for a simple character on a white background, and I think that's one of my better renderings, but it looks a little odd placed next to everything in my portfolio. Maybe I need a few of these before it doesn't look so weird? I've got those "pencil drawings" but I don't know if I want to show anything else monster related in my portfolio. What do ya think? Maybe I'll throw a hint of a cast shadow, some textured bars and my logo? Thanks for posting man, always good to hear from you!

Thanks man, the beholder was a fun one. I've got the mind to go back and render back over top of that, and the cyclops (they seem like "older pieces" that get a lot of attention, but aren't rendered up to what I am able to do now). The cyclops in particular needs some touch-ups, but I'm a little swamped with contracts right now. Woe is me. Thanks for posting!

coryvdelisle- thanks, I actually just recently heard back form Rebel Ragdoll, so I'll be having more of that. I actually already have more, I'm just waiting for approval from then, and then they're cool with me showing the stuff on art websites.

Pavel- thanks yo. The brief wanted a pulpy Conan type of feel to it, and I'm pretty pleased with it working out. Lots of looking at Frazetta (I mean why not?) in that.

Artfix- thanks Trevor! Gotta work that gnoll into the portfolio. Pretty swamped right now, should have more work to show soon (when they let me...!)

davidmccartney- Thank you, sir. I'd still argue I've got a bit to learn about compositions, but I'm glad to hear that something is working out alright.

Oh wow, almost forgot these.

So, evidently these guys have been building a story for a few years. I'm really excited about the project, I just wish it could go faster. Of course if it WAS going faster I'd be sinking further and further under...

I don't think I can share anything about what's actually going on, just show my art around. I'll try and keep updated on the state of how things are going. I'm also launching a "personal project" that I'll be throwing around here in a month or so.
