hey man. Your studies are getting pretty good. I remember your stuff from some months ago and you are doing great. I would like to see some more images from imagination where you apply what youve learned from the studies.Keep rockin!
@Fireblade Thanks man, I'll sure as hell try!
@Noro/Sebastian Wagner Thank you!!! I'm glad you enjoy what you see. I've been trying to do more imagination pieces. Seriously I have. I'm scheduling them into my... schedule!!
HERE is the start of a 20 hour still life. Yes. I'm going to put aside 20 hours for this one. It's complex enough. Spent the first 2 hours getting the shapes and contours down right. It's not done, maybe another 30 minutes before I start to lay down the values.

wow 20 hours looks pretty hardcore for a still life, this can be really interesting, will remember to check back.Currently looks pretty accurate and well constructed, good perspective and tight linework, so IMO its a great base.
Keep it up

WIP, redoing the sword and the stone piece.

I've been gone for awhile as you may have noticed. But most of the reasons why are all gone, and so here is a quick update. with my (finished?) 20 hour still life. And also some sketches from books/pictures.
I want to do some more still lives. Shorter ones, haha. Plus I've got 2 weeks to finish that sword and the stone piece. ATM I've got a bit of a busy schedule so updates may be a bit slower than usual. But nothing as bad as these last few weeks.
Theres more I could say but I know no one wants to hear it. So lets just carry on.
Wow, that sure is a really demanding study, great outcome, sure you learnt tons!
Also loving the figures, really lively!
Keep it up!!

I'm going to do another self portrait soon, this ones proportions bothered me. Plus I want to try new tactics to painting the face.

Finished the revamp of my sword in the stone piece.
Plus a 2 hour bust study.

quick skull thing, wanted to try a different technique. I don't think I'll be sticking to it.

Some Charles Bargue Studies, more to come.
![]()
That is some great work for some one so young, judgeing from your self portrait.
@mitze I'm not really that young at all. Age doesn't have that much to do with anything any who.
I was feeling sketchy. So I did some more bargue, then tried to apply it to some quick sketchy SP's, amongst other sketches. Also a quick 30 minute sketch of my bust from mt sketchbook.

You've got some nice studies here man, i especially like still life stuff.
Two things i would perhaps mention for a crit would be 1, To focus on your hard and soft edges some more. This is especially clear in your self portraits, where theres alot of soft marks going on and its making your portraits look abit flat and muddy. Also the skin tones look abit off too.
And 2, would be to do more stuff from imagination, and apply the stuff your learning from your studies. If your not careful you might find yourself becoming really good at copying references instead of studying and learning from them. Everybody has their own menthods of learning, but something i found when i started to really push imagination pieces to a finish was the stuff i really sucked at jump out at you, and it makes it clearer what it is you need to focus on.
You've got some sweet skills, and i look forward to seeing more of your stuff in the future![]()
@Warburton
Hey thanks! It's always fun to hear what people have to say about my stuff. And I totally agree, I don't do enough imaginative stuff. Which is why I'm starting to! I swear I had this idea before you mentioned it lol. It's something I've avoided, so now I won't. If it means getting better I'm all up for it. And as far as brush work goes it's not really anything that I study, it's just a natural thing I gradually get better at over time. Tones are a whole nothing issue, which I've been trying to absolve better.
Anywho, here is a Skull study i did the other night, AND In funner things here is something I had fun with. But I should probably do the bg and character together next time.

Really nice stuff in here man. You've got great "style", whatever that may mean! Your sketches are so clean and easy to read.
@Poetry Man Always :]
@Mistle Everyone has a style, mine is pretty undeveloped.
I planned to do more with this... but then got lost with focusing on certain things too much and making no real leeway. So here is where I stopped.
Love this! Especially Walter White!

@Sycra Thanks Sycra!! It's awesome to hear that from you, I'm a long time viewer of your stuff :]
@Liffey Ya Science! Thanks! I'll do some more walt studies by next season.
So for todays illo I actually kinda went above and beyond the normal process, about 4 hours on this on. It's a mix of 3 bosses from earthbound getting hit by some PK Thunder from Mother 3.

Got some cool work here. The muscley-face studies are looking really sharp, and while this is kind of a minor thing, the line quality on those Bargues was awesome. Seriously. So smooth and confident and pretty.
I think, however, your use of color leaves something to be desired (color-scheme wise--it just doesn't look attractive).
But you're making progress! Keep it up!
