Squid Studies, practicing the materials.

I see you've been working on Aliens more keep at it buddy, it's a great way to leave your comfort zone.
@Yemi775 Thanks for the support man, you rock!
Heres a thing from my head, need to do a couple rock/snake/fire studies and come back to it all knowing.
![]()
Some early rock studies. I'll do a few more of these, and some snake studies, then fire/lava. And then go back to the dragon piece.
![]()
More rocks, from my head.

Holy crap this was way out of my comfort zone. Snakes are very difficult to paint. Scales mainly. And theres SO many different kinds of snakes. I'm going to have to do some more of these haha.

nice updates, and yeah would be cool to see this last serpent sketch developed a bit more :b
@Othrandir thanks! I'll be posting that soon!
@Kevin_ Coming soon
Some moreee studies. I'll redo that dragon soon!

That dragon looks cool, keep studying; your making some excellent progress right now. ^_^
You're rocking, Zesiul, amazing progression!
My DeviantART & my Sketchbook.
@Capt Surge Thanks!
@Overtoom Same to you! Thanks!
20 minute lava sketch before work. I want to do some fire stuff later.

Some dragon variants from my pose that I posted a few days ago.

Update, reworked the composition a bit more. Still working out kinks. I'll try to move onto something else by the weekend at the latest. Just not happy with it yet.
![]()
Guess This ones done, I just feel like it is. Can't see anything I'd really love to change about it. Onto the next piece!
![]()
Cool stuff, really nice to see your progression.
Now, I'm a complete noob (sorry if this offends you or sounds smug) but I'd say in the last one it would look much more interesting if you had a worm's eye view of the snake-beast, to give the viewer a better idea of how massive the creature is, right now with no human form to compare it too it feels a bit flat and unimpressive. Just an idea, love the rendering in it though.
Good luck and keep pushing.
@Dracken Hmm, thanks for the advice. I'm putting that one down, but maybe on another piece I'll try the worms eye POV. In fact maybe on my next piece. And thank you!
I've had this creature in my head and I can't shape him out just yet. I know I want him to be massive, maybe like 20-30 stories high. And I like the idea of arms that are just too damn long. So here are a few silhouettes. Been stuck in a snow storm hah, so I'll have some larger updates tomorrow when i get back home!

Quick sketches of a few of those guys I liked from yesterday.
![]()
Sketchin sketchin sketchin.
Playing around with landscapes and compositions. I have a bunch of separate scinerios for this piece. Just keeping it loose until something really jumps out to me.
![]()
Few more composition sketches.
I like the 3rd one, probably going with something similar to that.
Here it is, the first pass at this one. I've gotten it to a decent point. Haven't spent long on the big guy yet, most of the detail is on everything else. So next update will have more on him, just need to put the piece down for a day. Might change some of the composition around too. We'll see!

Hey,man! Just dropped in to see what you were up to
about your last wip, you should watch out with the crop, right now the horn is almost touching the edge of the canvas and composition-wise, it's not really pleasing to the eye
you should either enlarge the canvas to show the whole creature or zoom in to make the shoulder and face the focal point
Hope this helps![]()
awesome stuff in there and love the studies!![]()
can't add crits to it, but keep it up man!
the only thing about the last one, I like the first comp of your last paint most, gives better focus in my opinion

@Othrandir Yeah I'm just not happy with the head position, gotta figure that one out. Thanks man!
@Jhonshadow yeah I went with that composition, just alliterated it a bit. And thanks!
Small update, changed the bg pushing stuff back, and altered the face a bit... probably going to move it again though.

I think I'll call this one done. Spent so much time on it, now it's time to go to the next piece. Or perhaps finish up that Zelda one from January.
![]()
You are a machine!!! Serious improvement up in here.
Furthermore, the last iteration of your 'large demon creature' is definitely the best of the three. I can tell that you pushed through some tough spots, but it most certainly payed off.
@The Fez Thanks man :]
I never really get into Sci-Fi stuff, so heres some robot dudes. I'm going to render up 3 and put that into my portfolio, then I'll finally pick up my Zelda piece! Wooo-
![]()
Maybe you could take a look at some machinery, engines, tanks/airplanes etc, I think it would help with the robot dudes, make'm more complex.
@M.Calza Yes! You are correct! I actually realized it pretty soon too.
So I started to render out one of the 2 guys I liked, and I realized I knew like next to nothing about robot design and even the materials I wanted to use. So I cleaned up the line work on the left guy, who is the one I'll fully render, maybe do a turn around sheet of. Now I'll do some studies! Metal, machinery, tech. All that stuff. And hopefully that'll help when I later come back to render out the materials.
Cheers.
