How does the interior design bussiness work?

Lately I've been thinking a lot about what I want to aim for with art. I was wondering how interior design works. If you could paint and draw a functional and attractive looking interior would there be a demand for that kind of design work?

Since interior design can involve anything from knocking down walls, to designing chairs and cushions, I think you would be best to check out college courses in interior design

Drawing an interior is no more interior design than drawing a building is architecture.

I would not draw too close comparisons between interior design and architecture. Sure, they go together but are very different practices.

Mm, if you want to be the dude, who picks wallpaper and cushions for rich people then if you can make them believe that you have superb taste and expertise then go ahead, research and practice should be done probably and you won't make it overnight but you have a chance. But if you look at the bigger picture together with interior architecture, actually designing stuff yourself then this isn't really something where you can get hired on attractive drawings, a more specialized education is generally required. Interior design isn't often even done by architects. For one because they often don't have time but also because it presents a whole new set of problems and areas wherein they aren't trained, so interior architecture is not the simplified version of architecture.

Actually, the comparison I meant to draw was pretty much what you said in your post.
