    mathletic sketches

I'm not sure I've ever finished a painting, so I guess everything here can be counted as a sketch or work in progress.

I've spent far too long not drawing or painting regularly, so decided now is finally the time to start a constant sketch book, and kick my own ass into gear and hopefully improve.

Any feedback and crit greatly appreciated : ) It seems I like octopi and space helmets at the moment : / More to come...

Some fiddling and progress in the construction on the undersea pic, added the other hands on the humans, come colour to the kangaroo, and a digital sketch from ref.

awesome sketchbook- i can see that you're very good at values and construction of characters and stuff, great work and all =) you should come by my sketchbook and check it out too. btw i think it could look cool if you put some sort of highlight on the kangaroos goggles in clase they're plastic or glass- just a random thot.

im going to sort of agree with @blazingdimensions, you have some nice proportions and structure, however im not sure your values are reading convincingly. so i would suggest more value studies, i can see your doing the female study which is good, but even still life and just studying well...enything is good for that.

    keep it up

dog-faced: Thanks for taking a look. Yea agreed, totally need to firm up all of my core drawing and values....
...and colours theory.,and brush economy, and design, and composition
blazingdimensions:Hi, yea, nothing here is finished, I'll happily go hi-lite crazy on the kangaroo once he's more complete : ) Thanks for looking boss.

And now, some skulls studies... probably try a grey- scale of one of these:

Found these paintings from earlier this year, maybe February, I'm sure the anatomy is shot in all of them, no solid form beneath, or detailed muscle forms. The start of the octopus trend : )

    (edit: add pic)

Values again, blurry sketch to something a bit more firm, and a balance/form type quick study. Sketch in, one pass of shade, one of light.
