    Cashmate's sketchbook

So I've finally decided to make a sketchbook after weeks of lurking.
I am 18 years old and I haven't taken any real art classes, so I'm a true amateur. I've always liked drawing but I never really took it seriously or tried to improve. 3 months ago, that changed. I've finally decided to get good at painting, but I've been lacking some motivation to finish my pieces and learn to more.
My hope is that by creating this sketchbook, I'll get more motivation and in the same time get help by you guys.
My goal is to upload something worthwhile every day or every two days.

So here is some of my most recent sketches/experiments.
Sorry for the massive size of the pictures. :/

Hi Cashmate! Welcome on CA! nice paintings!
after you're finished I suggest you save your work in another file that's 800x600 so everyone sees it in one take!

I'm having trouble making water look good. Is there any easier way of making the waves/blur on the water than just using a small brush?
    Critique is much appreciated.

    Great!

Hey sounds great man and you have some promising work there (I like the colors) but i think you should size your pics down a bit, right now it´s kinda hard to see them

*Edit* O right someone already said that, my bad. Pics looking good though

I know the first couple of pictures are really big but are the last couple paintings also too big? Either way, thanks for the encouraging words.

Nah the last one are just the right size. Np m8 having some place to post your pictures is always a great way to encourage your artistic side

Just started a sketchbook here too, kinda new to CA but hopefully I will be able to keep it updated.

Well the first one i really like, i guess you could break up some of the foliage a bit more on.

The second one looks nice but it needs more depth and the rays looks a bit to visible?

Not very good at critique but i hope you will get something useful out of that

Thanks! I Didn't think of the second one looking flat. I Tried to fix it and I think it turned out a little bit better.

I have started to feel pretty confident in painting vegetation, so I tried to just paint something out out my imagination, but I couldn't manage to make the background look good. Now when I look at it, the trees are really close the each other as well.
I used reference for the upper one.

Really good job!! the photo realism looks awesome! When you transition from cliff to water you could add some rocks to sort of smooth the the change, unless you are going specifically not making rocks.

Maybe when making clouds use a bigger brush and dont define them that much.

    Hope this helps
