I tried painting two different ways, in the first one the line almost doesn't matter, but color is everything, in the second one line has a lot of weight but the color was basically by selection, also it was my first time using the pen tool to make the lines perfect.
Leave any comments or crits, i will really apreciate it ^^

The last post shows improvement, especially the mermaid! I like the smoothness of the values. I suggest working more in grayscale to understand how light works, not that I'm an expert in that but it's always better to remove distractions like color

Also I see that you understand the importance of gestures, keep up the good work!



ps: for the second one, you could add in more hard edges to make shading look more natural. There is a good tutorial on how it works >>> http://www.ctrlpaint.com/

e-nat: thank you very much for the feedback . In fact you made me realize how poorly painted was the second one -.- i guess i got stuck on line and didnt pay ANY atention to the way i was painting it... i made The mermaid on grayscale but i work with high values only (i really have to learn not to do that). I will do some more still life to learn my values well so this wont happen again.

Ill post the step by step on my mermaid and the second one with some corrections.... Thank you very much again ^^

hey man, nice start. I like the studies, all i can say is repitition is the key. do like half an hour of studies before you start any concept work. and when you do portraits try not to use such over exposed images, it distorts the form and can make things look flat. keep up the good work!

I've been studying a lot of animals for the past two weeks, in this very small time you cant master any of them but the transition is easier from horses to deers, cows, lambs and so on.... It would be so amazing to go to the zoo!!! XD

Loving the improvement in here. What I've learned especially in the past few months is that its sooooo helpful to draw from references/life as much as possible. The way I 'keep my brain limber' as I like to call it is doing anatomy studies. I mean, I don't do it just to learn anatomy, I do it because it helps my brain visualize better. So keep it up! What you're doing is obviously working!

I think this is one of the drawings i have enjoyed the most. I made it for my drawing group called "El reto semanal". i abused the subject to practice some skull drawing from imagination, a bit of perspective and some color theory basics... i hope i didnt fked it up too badly because i really like it XDXD, so if you can give me some critique on this one i would really apreciate it ^^

Ive had nightmares about the last post so i had to improve that one and make it "my level". I have lots and lots of stuff to finish before i can go back to Ecuador so i havn't been able to post any of my drawings.. this is the improved version of that last fetish image i made with some corrections, a sketch i made on the bus and a Dragon that are the only ones i can scan for now... ill scan them all when im of the hook XD

The portrait on your last post seems to be a bit flat though. Maybe you should try working more on shape and volume.

Oh and btw, on some girls the left boob is slightly bigger than the right lol Just an interesting fact to keep in mind I guess haha

Still having the boobs size problem but im working on it, thank you from bringing that to my attention .

Ive been gone for quite some time but i didnt stop drawing, just stopped posting. Im gonna do my best to upload some stuff ive been doing .

New studies!!!. I want to tackle all of my flaws with 3 hours a day that is all i have right now. From Monday to Saturday ill be posting Anantomy studies, materials, props or vehicles, Backgrounds and on friday i will try and merge all the new knowledge to create a finished ilustration, all of them on 3 hours a day. Wish me luck

Ive been trying to study how mist works and i got to understand how it affects objects as they they approach the viewer and how they gain saturation and loose brightness. I dont seem to be able to paint the leaves on the floor, does anyone know a fast way to paint those?

I will do some more studies, i hope to get some harsh crits if possible, tanks

A good amount of practise, i really like the one with the child injected with fb.
also i would suggest spending more time with fundamentals/ studies its like endless
and the more you do the better, i really shows with your latest images that youve practise and its paid off, like the women and skulls a great piece as well.

I really like the idea behind the injection piece. Your obviously an artist with something to say, all I do is paint people with swords lol... Don't worry about how long it takes to paint stuff, it doesn't matter. Overtime this will go down. The only thing you should aim to do is enjoy the process, sure there will be times you will fight with the painting but this is called learning ;D Just try a lot of different things and experiment. Looking forward to your progress!

Nice progress. I saw the gray scale values on the mermaid. Instead of using all 10, try using just 70, 30 and 10 to make an image for a while. You will see big leap. Good luck. ;-)

I managed to do some values on the red riding hood on the front, this is a piece for a friend of mine so I'm trying to make it look as good as possible and taking my time to do so.

Hey man thanks for checkn out my sb. I'm loving the structure in the pencil studies. For some reason it's not really translating to the digitals as much. try doing some perspective studies in ps to get the rhythm going. also the form and contrast are still a bit washy and unrefined, try setting up some still life on your desk and doing some master studies and things like that. I think a few value studies would help you with your grayscale. Some more contrast in them could strengthen them some. Also UPDATE more often. Theres bulk uploader now so theres no excuse >=(. Looking forward to seeing how your animation plays out. Keep it up =)
