Great piece! I love the way the ape merges with the background, it is a great use of sfumato. The musculature is also quite impressive, though his hand is somewhat off. For the amount of tension to instill in the forearm and hand, it does not seem like the fingers are grabbing the spear with much strength. Also, maybe try to darken his back foot (the one closest to the picture plane). At the moment it really blends in to the rocks around him, it actually took me a bit to discern it.

I like the first one overall. I only wish you had worked the spear into the composition/focus a bit more. It's a part of the picture's storyline and yet looks like a sloppy afterthought. Right now the spotlight is on the monkey's face and the guy's forearm, which doesn't make too much sense.
    My Sketchbook

And then God said, "Let us make man in our likeness and our image. Let us make him ridiculously hard to draw so that poor artists everywhere will have to spend 10,000+ hours failing repeatedly before they can begin to capture the form and likeness onto a two-dimensional surface." And there was man. And it was good. And artists everywhere lost their minds.

I like them both. The stillness in the first one is pretty epic and suspenseful, while the motion in the second is convincing and engaging. Nice work!
Please Sir, I'd like some more.

    Thanks guys, appreciate it.

Manly brian: Good points about the focus. I did intend him to be the first point of focus and the gorilla the second. I agree about the spear, didnt plan that well enough to work with the composition as a whole.

This one is from the Industrial design class, drawing bots for the first time. This was modelled in Maya and then painted using PS.

Hey StarEater Thanks. The Tarzan piece is PS, all of these are using PS. I sometimes do a pencil sketch for figures and scan it in.

Thinking like a female, first thing that gets my attention is 'Holy shit she's gonna trip and kill herself if she takes one more step off that rock.' As much fun as sexy is, if she's really a badass wizard, she'll want to be ready RIGHT NOW to kick some serious shit. The frilly train can wait until bedtime when she gets her kinks with her wizard pals. And she will. I can tell by her face. The headpiece worries me some too. She turns her head any more to her left and she'll have a scar in a very unfortunate place.

Skill wise this is good and much better than I can do right now. Just think about functionality and purpose a little more.

Cool cool! I like it all. The second piece in post #11 is especially appealing to my eye, very painterly.
I agree about the spear in the first piece, though I didn't notice any problem with it (hardly noticed the spear.. maybe that's the problem) until it was pointed out.

    Great work!

that elf in post 10 is absolute stunning, i find that style really reminiscent of oil paintings
,the addition of visible brush strokes and softness of the edges its just too good.
