Beginner looking for mentor to tech him the ropes

Fairly inexperienced, but aspiring concept artist in search of a mentor. I understand the concept of working in a digital medium, but that is about it. I'm looking for someone to teach me the ropes and help me get started as a concept artist.

I am a fast learner, my schedule is very open and flexible at the moment, I have a drawing tablet, and the software. I have next to no work to build a portfolio but I can draw a few things so we can gauge my abilities before we can begin.

    Reply if interested!

Alright that sounds great, I'll just do a few doodles and quick sketches. Again don't expect anything too great.

Alright, It's not much, but these should suffice.

Used my avatar as a visual referenced and did a quick sketch

Just some random objects I drew while watching some TV

Drew this a few weeks back when I got my tablet, It's just a rough sketch, did not even finish feet.

Alright this is good, now, I'm going to lay down a few assignments for you to do. These will be simple at first and get more complex later.

assignment 1: Find good pictures of the arms, torso, and legs, trace them 5 times using only line. Then use the same pictures but block in only large strokes 5 times. After your done repeat the same thing but without tracing the pictures. You should have a total of 5 arms, 5 torsos, and 5 legs traced and 5 arms, 5 torsos, and 5 legs without tracing. And to add even more pressure I'm giving you until the end of the week to finish. (you can only use the round brush for this assignment)

Should these drawings meet at a specific size? assuming I have 3 canvases, one for each limb, What should the dimensions/resolutions of these canvases be. Also I'm not sure I understand the whole "blocking them in" aspect? Should they be properly shaded? Or just be simply filled in? And as for the line drawing, does that mean the pen/ or line tool? Or just the circle brush at a small size?

By the way, do you have skype? I think this would be much easier on both of us, if we used that for our lessons and assignments.

All your images must be drawn at 300 dpi to maintain good resoluton, seperate your anatomy on 3 different cavases, and make sure all your anatomy fits on to the pages you can set the size of the canvas to what ever size that's comfortable for you. For the block in you don't have to match the values just get the overall shapes that you see. For the line drawings use the brush tool.

I don't have skype, here is my email - [email protected]
I'll will make a Skype account soon

    Sorry for being so vague
