A quick hiThis thread is to act as something to keep me motivated and to document progress.
These are only sketches i do in my spare time (studying engineering at uni) and I come with no technical/formal education in drawing/painting and i hope time will amend this as i'd love to be able to draw figures and landscape. Any critique is welcome.
Since i only recently discovered these forums, I'll start from the beginning.

Playing around with shadowing and it just turned into this. A more recent work.

Finished this one yesterday, really happy with the atmosphere. An attempt at "speed" painting and playing with some brushes. Took 2 hours. *sob*. Might work on it further to bring in some details.

Trying to practice drawing figures i guess... Not too good, might have to hunt down some tutorials because i'm just trying to draw what i see, no real guide i'm following.

Studying engineering and limproving drawing skills at the same time is one hell of a ride. Good luck mate
If you want to hit it real hard -> there are a few art books on classical academic drawing out there. I would let the digital stuff away for the first few months and focus on that stuff. Haha you can say that again. Same reason why i havn't updated in a while, pesky assessments creeping up everywhere. Checked our your sketchbook to find out you're also an engineer in study =p
Gave the book a look and it looks like a great read, i'll definitely work through it when i have the time.

A colour and landscape study from this image. Quite happy with the result, usually i end up either fudging colours so the image looks washed out compared to the referece, or my proportions go wonky. First one is the study, second is just playing around with adjustment layers in photoshop.

How is engineering going? I hope that you are still drawing.
To your stuff: You rush. Take your time. Measure and keep Proportions clean. Take only the first two standard brushes.
You have got much work to do my friend, but if you keep going it will be good for you.
