    Strange Layer Mask Problem

Okay, I'm attempting to color my linework, as in, color the ACTUAL LINES. You know, to reduce the harshness of the linework when I fill in the color.

Anyway, the way I do this is select all the lines with the Channel option, then use Apply Mask so only the lines are not masked out. But for some reason, why I apply the mask on the lines, the mask is not 100% opaque. So when I color on the layer, the color shows through slightly in the places that aren't linework.

Every time I make a layer mask, the mask in 100% opaque, but not in this case. I'm not sure why this is happening. I attached an image, because it's hard for me to explain in words. Note the opacity of the mask and the outcome when I try to color the linework.

    Thanks for the help.

I think it's because the mask is not black and white. you have grey instead so that's probably making it half transparent.

That's because your mask is grey and white. If you want only the lines and nothing else, you need to adjust the contrast/levels till it is pure black and white. In a mask black = erase, white = original and greys are different levels of transparencies.
Alt click on the mask, adjust the levels till the image looks ok and then click on the image to go back to painting.

    Edit: Bumskee, you're so fast
