Detailing is a tough job. I have to work more on detailing.

Was trying to learn Brown's style.
his sketch book is HERE.
I think these tutorials could help you a bunch http://www.ctrlpaint.com/. What i mean by value studies is pretty much doing black and white paintings from photos or life to really see how light affects different objects. It's more explained on ctrlpaint. Check it out if you want to.
otherwise just keep practicing and never give up.
One more CA. I know his hands are very stiff, but believe me it was not looking that Straight when I was drawing it , after paint they are appearing to be rigid, lol.
Concept art for the game project I am working on. The game is all about kicking some alien bad ass.
Long time....
One more
Hi,
as your sketchbook is 4 pages now I hadn't the time to check every single picture, but here are some points i noticed:
-your lightning is very good! Especially the blending between the different values! I love it
-the texture of the clothes, the skin, especially for your characters is also very good and seems to fit perfectly. I don't work with textured brushes for long now, but I'm currently trying to get all the settings and maybe do some new textures that fit my needs better.
-you need to work on the propotions. At least that's what came to my mind at most of your works. There is a huge difference between now and when you started here, but still at some pictures today I notice that. I think the study-group will help you alot, doing quick sketches. I have a problem myself with that, I allways get stuck in detail and lightning so I have high expections in our group
Maybe I can explain it like this: some pictures look like a kids work, drawn by a master. Some chars just seem very strange, but due to your good work on them you still notice that you are really good. I think you should spend more time on sketches before starting with the colour and light. If you think the pose looks natural and clean you can start painting. I know that's hard but you will hate yourself if you finish a painting and notice it's all out of perspective or propotions. I had this too ^^
Hope to see more!!
Have a nice day!
Hey, took me a while to read your post from the mentoring subforum, so, how do we do this?![]()
http://www.conceptart.org/showthread.php?t=267414 - c&c welcome
You got a lot of imagination, and passion for fantasy drawing.
But i think you just want to make thing to fast.
Take your time,no need to rush with these paintings.
If you are making COW, and you think its finished, but there is still few days left till deadline: no need to post it immediately
Take your time, make a day brake, than look at your picture again with fresh view, maybe there will be something to polish, to add?
I think your latest COW needs more contrast - pictures above from other hand have it way to much![]()
Try to use more grays. Less blacks, and high saturated lights.

Working on basic shapes.
Now I am realizing the importance of working on Basic shapes.
With these paintings, I envy your imagination. A lot of these paintings really came out good.
One more, now without reference:
Ambiance color was missing, added some ambiance color (Ambiance spelling is wrong in image, forgive me):

Studying specularity and reflectivity on cone.
Will keep studying a cone until I am clear with lightnings, specularity and reflectivity.
Also will include material and texture of common material.
Can't find some glossy Cone image reference.
Any one has image reference for glossy cone and other common objects ?
here is one more specularity study.
Awesome to see you've got into studying basics. Theres always improvements to be made here no matter how good you are![]()
I love your imagination, I've been putting off doing stuff from my head and its something that i really want to start. keep it up![]()
Some of my pencil Work, it really helps.
The real way of doing pencil work is to work on weak areas.
I always had troubles with nose detailing , but yesterday I did some pencil work studying some noses.
I finally sorted structure of nose.
