    Jaesun's Doodle Book

Hey all. I'm new here. Only discovered this place by overseeing a classmate on it and thought I'd check it out.
I love everyone's sketchbooks and I wanted to get one started.
This first post will be small only because I wanted to only use my most recent sketchbook.

Here is a compilation of the pages (I have so far) wrapped into one big image. Hope you guys like it.

    New WIP

Just got done drawing. It's for someone else, but I had a blast drawing their character.
Now for digital inks to get a smoother look. This is an extremely reduced image so it doesn't show up as bad, but it's still got that real grainy graphite edge to my lines and spotted blacks. I can't get the results I want in Illustrator so I'll have to painstakingly do it in Photoshop.

Just posting things as I go.

Hey Amigo! Glad to see your images outside of the corner of my eye in class for once, haha. Im psyched you got around to making a SB here, you'll definitely learn a lot the more you post.
I really dig your your smooth line quality and your female characters, i need to work on them a lot more myself. I also like your use of solid blacks, though the "haloing" you add around the edges and the blacks sometimes draws unnecessary attention. But yeah, it's no biggie, I'd like to see some full body figures from you so i can give a worthwhile critique in the future. Other than that, your anatomy looks solid and your technique is pretty darn cool. I'll be looking forward to more soon! And again, it's good to have you around these parts!

    Some comic pages.

+dave, patram, vivi: Thank you all for the kind words. I appreciate it.
AustenFM: Thanks for the welcome. I see what you're saying now about the "haloing". It is a bit distracting and I've always thought so to some extent. Truth be told the only reason I do it is because I don't want to cover up the line weighting I did along the edges, but I feel like I'm solving one problem by putting another one on top of it. I'll mess around with it and seem if I can find a compromise. I'm looking forward to posting more on here. I'm still new obviously so I'm a bit in the dark about the happening of the community but hopefully I'll get some help with that or find out on my own.

Now more "art". This is a project I did for my Sequential Drawing class. It's not the best, but the characters are my originals, and I love them so I have a soft spot for these pages despite their flaws. This is the first comic I ever made and I've noticed the main thing I hate about it is the bland, boring layout of the panels. It makes it easier to ready but overall is still very stale. Sorry for the huge image sizes.

Hey J.A.! You ready for school to resume? I sure aint~ ugh!
Just dropping through to say i dig your comic there. It's pretty good considering it's your first one. I like your use of spot blacks in certain areas, and the overall style you've got going. Sometimes the layout/camera gets a bit repetitve though but that's the only thing weighing it down.

Are you going to want to pursue comic art over 3d? If so perhaps you might want to check out www.entervoid.com . If you dont already know of it, it's an online comic community where artists get together and have comic "battles" to hone their sequential skills. I have been part of it since 2005-ish and i've picked up a lot in the process. Here's a faq page that can explain things better than i --> http://entervoid.com/FAQ.php

But yeah, just thought that may be of interest to you. If you've got a character you always draw this would be a good place to begin fleshing him/her out and boning up on your comic skills.

Hope you enjoy your last sunday before hell begins again! see ya!

AustenFM: Yes actually, I would like to pursue comic art or anything illustrated over 3D. I think I briefly told you in class one day that I have as much interest in 3D as I do in swallowing nails. Right now comics is my main goal though simply because I've really gotten into it recently. Thanks oodles for the link and suggestion! I'll definitely give it a go. It looks like my kinda place! Perhaps sometime you and I can "battle".

p_sage: Thank you! I do my best when it comes to line work.

And just so this isn't a updateless post, here's a comedic drawing I did to mock one of my other school buddies. She simply HATES people that make Sailormoon OC's with a passion. Granted she is a massive Sailormoon fan. She had no Sailor Scout OC so I decided to draw one for her in her (incredibly tooned up, and exaggerated) likeness. She simply loved it, so maybe you guys will dig my parody work. This is "Sailor Badass" and she's not taking no more sh*t!
P.S. I actually plan to take this sketch to a more finished level so you may get to see her pretty (angry) little face again.

    Halloween fun!

Just a tiny update while I get something larger together. I haven't posted on here since I started the account. Shame.

This is the process and finished image of a street painting event I did for a Fall festival with a couple of my school buds. I have been poorly censored for my own protection...cuz I'm just that important (yeah right)!

Hope you guys dig it. If you want a closer look, check it out here

Systatic: Haha. Glad my cheesy faces were appreciated!
    rumpenstiltzkin: Thanks man!
AustenFM: I think I already said they were provided to you in class, but just incase, yea, they gave em to us. Thanks for checkin' it out man.
drey101: Thanks a lot. I do love the lines!

Just a small dump. This is 90% commission work. Lots of boobies and such. Hope no one minds this shameless cheesecake.
Top two (save one doodle) are just pencil. Last one is digital inks.
Again, sorry for all the sweater meat, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy drawing it. Hope you guys dig it.
    More very soon.

    D'Ana Dump

Small sketchdump starring one of my original girls, D'Ana. She's a saucy black girl. I always enjoy drawing her. She also starred in a comic I did in a previous post. I may redo that one sometime in the future. Who knows.

CorePoint, Rhubix: You guys asked for it. I made this sketchdump exclusively because you requested it. Thanks for the support!
Kino_PuA: Thanks for the interest! It's supporters that keep me motivated.

With that said, this is a sketchdump of everything in my sketchbook since my last update. Kinda big so I externally linked. Hope no one beefs about it.
As usual...lots of boobs...but some guys made it in there too.

My school buddy AustenFM is having a birthday today. His B-day sketch made it into this dump. It would seem Coppermouth found something undesirable in his cake. Happy B-day, Austen!

AustenFM is to blame for this one. I saw him do the shape exercise, so I had to take a stab at it. I had Austen draw the shapes for me during class so I wouldn't try and draw something I normally would. Lots of fun.

I enjoy doing this, so I'll probably do more of these in the future.

Hey well thanks! Your line art style is really cool.

It reminds me of some cool french graphic novels/web-comics I stumbled across online accidentally.
