I tried yesterday and made a terrible mess of it (Link). Gave it a second shot today. What a topic :'(

    Hamsta:
Smart color scheme fits the mood and contrasts well with the creature and its blood. I like the lighting from the back as well. I had some trouble figuring out the creature first, I thought I saw bones straight away. After taking some distance it seems like puke. Clever. Starting to see the chair and bottle too. Some of those objects line up unconveniently, creating tangent points. Like creature leg - chair leg. Also the creature's back is hitting exactly the place where the hovel meets the ground and casts a shadow.

    Hello all

I haven't done a DSG in over a hundred, work keep getting in the way of drawing and painting. Glad to see it's still going strong. I'm looking forward to browse through the latest creations. Anyways, here's my take on the subject, about an hour's worth.

Still WIP - but felt it was decent enough to post.

Might abandon it, might fix the most glaring faults.

    Great crit, Anthis, thanks!

I like the design of the hovel, and the sense of form it his.
I think you could use more color: vary the color of the roof and make the shadows a cool color.
The creature's head is a little too "mushy," and hard to read.
I also think you need to resolve the grass in the foreground in a different way, so that it is not as distracting as it is right now, maybe by softening it for a field of view type of effect.

Wow, these all look so great--clearly my idea of a sketch is nothing like everyone else's, heh.

    Sorry about multiple postings

Hi William, Sorry about multiple postings. I post and on some the DSGs the postings goes instantaneously on the page, and other times nothing happens for days so I post again. Wondering what I'm doing wrong. Again sorry about that, and definitely not trying to be a nuisance as I enjoy the DSG a lot. Thanks for your help, Tom (I tried e-mailing you but it wouldn't allow me to post anything to you).

    this is so sad...
    My Sketchbook

And then God said, "Let us make man in our likeness and our image. Let us make him ridiculously hard to draw so that poor artists everywhere will have to spend 10,000+ hours failing repeatedly before they can begin to capture the form and likeness onto a two-dimensional surface." And there was man. And it was good. And artists everywhere lost their minds.

Here's my take. You can read some flavor text over on my blog. (And then I realized that those arms don't make sense...)
