hi..its my first time on this site...
i'm starting to build my concept portfolio...
i'll be happy to hear what u think...and give me some pointers..
Well I finished these for my school final piece and I'm really proud of them, I think they fit well in here.
1st: Initial sketch now coloured in water colour...
2nd: Same creature if it was real...

Hi all, im kinda new. I feell ike my art is far from growing, mainly because of my lack of backgrounds, and the bad use of ink pencils. Could you please give some tips on how using ink pens and colored pencils please?
here's some of my art
DnD's Golden Dragon
DnD's Golden Dragon
Shining Force character
see those little lines of ink in her hair? thats the thing i want to change. I want to make a grading effect with ink, to make a strong black lienart, but I was told that that method sucked. so Im looking for new ways of achieving the same
This is entirely fanart, but, as it is past work, I'm tryig tyo come up with new iideas now
Heya Runefaust, I can't give you any tips on using pencil, but for inking and inspiration you might want to look at this.. http://www.wrightsonart.com/gallery.html
That'll pretty much show you that having large black areas isn't necessarily a bad thing if used correctly. And for hatching it'll show you to follow the contours of the body, clothing etc.
I hope that helps a little![]()
hatching is that thing that I do with little lines? sorry, English isnt my first language. Anyways, thanks a lot for the tipsOriginally Posted by blobs

Amazing artwork! Creatures are just the best. congrats on your work amigos, here's a couple of creatures of mine. Not a big deal but hey I kinda like them.
Love that first one Captain Moreno! The pose is very... imposing

`Why thanks a lot space sprayer! I kinda like the pose and the gesture myself, the crosshatch too but I dunno, it seems a bit stiff at moments hmm.
Hello, this is my first post on this forum - I just joined. Then I saw this thread and thought it suited my drawings pretty well.
Here's some creatures I am making for an upcoming handdrawn comic I am making:
This birdface humanoid I saw in a dream of mine, pretty creepy if you ask me.
Little guy playing the flute.

I apologize if this image insert doesn't work, Haven't tried it before like this...
I think I overworked the dragon like serpent thing, instead of just painting what I wanted I started trying to cut corners.
The second one, Toothy the underwater "thing" turned out way better than I expected, I know it's not very dynamic in terms of perspective or anything though. The big thing for me, was that it was my first time painting without using a pre-sketch, while using a palette knife like brush. Now that I've tried it, I don't think I would be able to stop painting like that even if I wanted to.![]()
Just laying down solid colors without as much concern about going outside the lines is refreshing.
