    Cakes Recipe Book of Sketches ~

    Hi there!

    This is my little thread of doodles and drawings. I've been a lurker on here for a little while now, but never really had the courage to register and actually post my work. So I decided to get all of my work together in date order to see how much i've improved. When I did this I realised that I had improved, but not as much as I wanted. I have had lots of uni work to do (hence the gaps in drawing dates), but now that i'm out for the summer i'm going to dedicate my time to improving And i'd like you guys to help me by critiquing my work

    But yeah anyway, I sifted through my work, picked out what I thought was most suitable and put it in date order.

    I'll be posting here everyday or every other day with new work

    Here is some of my older work, I put it into date order so you can get a feel of how i've progressed.

    And the last thing is something i've been working on for the past hour or so.

    Your swimmer just makes me jealous! Keep up the good work! About the skin, don't be afraid to use a bit of blue or green to add depth to your piece and stay away from over blending colors- edges can be pretty too! (Hope this helps and thanks again for the advice earlier!)

    you have a sketchbook now! awesome sauce. glad to see you're drawing lots! in terms of colouring on the last piece, it looks like you've used the same hue but just changed the saturation and value. get some more saturated pink, red and orange hues into the mix otherwise she'll end up looking dead haha. keep it up!

    @Yulei - Thanks! I realised that she looked pretty dead when I started on the guy so I went back and added more reds and oranges Next time i'll try green and blue like you say

    @DTP - I haz sketchbook I've finally jumped on the CA.org bandwagon rather than being a creepy lurker who just dribbles over all the work here haha.

    Here's an update on it;
    I'll finish it tomorrow when I wake up

    Here's an update on it. I think this is as far as it will probably go :/ Her hair was sooo darned hard that I got angry and gave up. I'll have to do more hair studies I think.
    I may pick up this piece again when I get better.. Or it will wither away, who knows D:

    Lady Gaga? :> Keep drawing, only thing i suggest you to use pencil not only to draw lines, that will make your sketches look more realistic

    Hello CakeFace, the violin looks lovely. The rendering you've done on the wood and varnish is great. Nice to see all of your figure drawing and poses as well!

    Very good cello indeed! ^_^
    I think you should do more figure studies in pencil, the flow of the pencil lines is better than in photoshop!))
