Beware, it's Manga! (but not only) - improvement included... maybe?

Hello everyone.

Finally after three years of having an account on this webpage, I managed to make my first post.
Thanks to the dear Valyavande, who kicked me to do so

Err I'm not that much into CGing... and I'm not that much into improving under all circumstances either, but I do have the will to improve gradually.
Till the time beeing, I can't tell, wether I want to work as an artist or what will be in two years in my life, but what I can tell is, that I always was interested in drawing and painting.
There is no single day, I don't sketch random stuff on all possible surfaces. So probably there is some improvement hidden? XD

Personal Stuff about me:
I'm 25 years old and from germany.
Perhaps, this sketchbook will help me to improve and to recognize the improvement over a longer period of time.

First to start off with, probably a little self portrait would be fine

Das Selbstportrait ist schon mal cool =) SW ist auch ne Taktik, sollte ich vllt. auch versuchen anstatt mich mit Farben rumzuplagen

I like the faces and hairstyles. You have a nice variety of those ;]

You have nice lines but you still need to work more on anatomy. The heads look a bit small while the bodies look a little short. Make sure the ratios between the width and height of the bodies are correct. But keep up the drawing!

Till now, I didn't quite realize, that the bodies I drew were to short. o_o
I only knew that I tend to draw the heads too large.

Neeeew self portrait... ca. 90min, but still lost in greyscales and know nothing whatsoever about values.
Still so much to do here and only less similarities with the original :'D

Also a new lineart. Felt like doing some hatching with liners.

I'm taking my time... when I feel like I want to draw or paint and then I thrust this feeling aside, I'm not happy.

Resceduled university stuff and got more into drawing and revived a very old but not forgotten idea.
The face always was strange and still is... but it's gotten better... compared to how it looked like, when I started this years ago. lol
I overpainted pretty much everything but I do not have any clue what colours to use.
Colour-Studies I'm coming... X__X

Your sketches always looks so clean and have such beautiful lines! I like the page with the elves, even if we could talk about some anatomy issues (yeah, I know, you mentioned it)

About the colours of the painting: maybe it helps a bit if you use coloured light and work more with different saturations. Everything looks just to orange and red. Some cold colours in there would be good. Reminds me of a rule that said that you should use cold shadowcolours if you have a warm colour for the light and vice versa.

I'll definately will try it... don't need to mention, that I know this rule well... yet it seems I was too overstrained with values in general to think of it.
But I will keep on working on this, because I cannot allow this motive to rest in my "wip forevermore"-folder obviously...
