Some Oak Tree studies for a class

Gah, I love the mass in your paintings. It's like, there in space, and there's nothing you can do about it! My paintings still lack that kind of weight. Your linework is also very nice; crisp and confident.
I really like the motion exhibited in your gesture sketches. You can really tell you have a grasp on the human form and how it moves with gravity in space. Keep up the good work!
I bought Henry Yan's Figure drawing book. And it came in today! Although it dosent really go through the construction, anatomy, and proportions of the body (I'd recomend Hampton for that), He does go over many little tips, techniques and tricks he uses to speed up the process.
Its a really good book with tons of examples and processes of his work. Check it out! http://www.parkablogs.com/category/tags/henry-yan
Here's a 20 min I tried from photo.

Your entire sketchbook is just so much "wow"! It inspires me to get off my lazy ass, stop lurking on CA and get some work done. But first I wanted to inform you of my appreciation. Will keep an eye out for more of your work.![]()
Man you got really good both traditional and digital stuff! I love it !

you are a master in your own right. i love your work! i'd like to ask about the verticle strokes you make in your art. specially in charcoal and also in your last piece. are they a style or just left there? because they just jell in with the art so well!awesome work!
Great stuff Jonathan. I'm enjoying your process a lot. Love the life drawings in particular, and seeing how that practice feeds into your other work.
