Figured it's about time that I start a sketchbook here. Something that I did a little while back in using photoshop. Didn't save any progress![]()

Been a very long time since I've practiced gestures and it's showingOn the first page are the 2 min gestures I did and on the 2nd are the 1 min gestures.
Well it all looks like one big page. But the top half is of the page are 2 minute gestures, and the bottom are 1 minute gestures.
hey man, thanks for dropping by my sketchbook! youve got some pretty cool stuff in here!
i hope you dont mind, i did a little paintover of your chow guy there. i really liked the image, and the character is well done, but the overall value range was not as wide as it could have been. i just did a quick paintover to show you what i mean...
there was alot of midrange values, so first i just opened up a new multiply layer, and with a fairly light value, began to block in some shadows with a more focal light source. (i chose to have it come from behind him, so that it was like god had his back hehe) then i kept pushing the value a bit darker in areas, and then on a new layer brought up the highlights in areas that would bring out the contrast more. for instance, where the cape meets the shadow under it to really make it pop. i also made his eyes and hammer glow a bit, to give it more of a "holy" look. hope you dont care that im just posting it in here. i did the paintover because i think the dude looked sick. just needed a tiny bit more time to get it looking better.

Oh, sweet!!!! Thanks, I definitely don't mind at all, that's what the sketchbook is for. Values are definitely something that I struggle with a lot. I kind of struggle with color in general when it comes to applying it, but this helps a ton. I'm glad you took out the time to show me this. Pushing the values really makes a huge difference in the piece. I also like the way you made the hammer glow. I wanted to do that but I had absolutely no clue how. Thanks again NickyBeats!
no problem man, i actually had alot of fun doing it. so, my pleasure ha. keep them posts coming!
