PeopleEveryday: Thanks. I see your improvement too in your SB. What do you mean by taking away the lines in photoshop?

Photo ref. about 2 hours. I hate how it took me that long to finish this.

yo nice improvements on the sketching man! props*. Concerning the color, I think it still looks a bit disoriented. It could be that you have a natural style that hasn't found it's potential yet. Maybe practice painting color by itself. Just color combinations and blending exercises. Then apply your color blending techniques on a picture after a while, instead of focusing on the picture itself, focus on color and blending.

    alright, peace!

poetry man: dreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee you bastard when are we gonna go sketching?!?! Yea, I think im having trouble with blending and shit. Sometimes I think I blend too much, lol. I wanna focus on value and shit.

Well, I spent my day just painting these 4 images. the portrait took quiet long than I expected. The landscape were photo refs from DA. I still got couple of hours to spend, so I guess Ill just spend them studying skulls from life. Also, I'll be uploading my anatomy studies and my gesture/head studies since I finished my sketchpad (I have 2 separate sketchpad). Ill be uploading in a bit once I finish doing my skull studies.

you're gonna lose the knowledge you've gained when you don't put it in practice, maybe you do a lot but just don't post. anyway, lot of hard working cool studies here, keep it up man.

Thank you for stopping by also, I'm not a neurologist, but I think you memorize stuff when you bring them back from memory, that's what I ment by practice, drawing what you've just learned, without reference.
I should've said, " when you don't put them in use", but you do as I now saw from previous pages.

Edit: yes it's Michio Kaku, theoretical physicist.

Like I said on my last post here's my Bougouereau. The last one took me like 8 hours or more I think Lol. Fukk I hate paintings that takes soo long. Sometimes it feels like im wasting my time. But it was fun to see things finished.

nice stuff you got going on here!
i think you could use some master studies, as your color look a bit grayscale and don't have much variation. keep up the sketching as well, i loved those loomis heads.
    cheers

It's good to see that you're doing a lot of works, both studies and from imagination, and over a wide range of subjects. It should definitely pay off in the long run.

However, at the risk of sounding presumptuous, might I say that you'll do yourself well to do some b/w studies? I don't think you're paying enough attention to planes right now. You see, that which we call 'levels' or 'values', that almighty factor in representational art, is basically the amount of light falling on an object. And the amount of light falling on an object will depend on whether it is facing the light; in other words, on the planes.

Some black and white, or pencil/charcoal studies can really help you with the application of values. I remember William Whitaker saying something in the lines of - if your drawing is strong, the painting or application of colours will eventually fall into place (this is me paraphrasing).

I hope you don't mind the babble. Keep posting, and best of luck with your art.

Vritra: I don't mind. I'm grateful you took the time to comment on my SB. I do draw on pencil I just dont post them as much. Thanks for the input about light and shadow. Ill make a note of them the next time I do some paintings.

Skull from life and some photo ref. Not very productive on my day off, lol. Pretty much spent lot of time on FB looking at those funny images and shit.

I see you're hard working on your skills.
    If I may...
a nice practise is to take a photo as reference and draw it only with black and white.
No outlines and no greyscales or hatching, just b/w.
If you want to push it further, use a white paper and only paint the shadows in black, nothing else. It helps (or it helped me at least) to improve my understanding of form and especially to remember the form of shadows and how they interact with surfaces.

The bougereau(?) painting is nice, finish that! Also the scissors is looking good too. In terms of what other people said, I say practice in greyscale even more than before. Get that down for real man. And remember there is perspective in "everything"... use perspective on your planes. Start with perspective, then value, then your stroke and line economy... the rest comes after- (color, composition, etc)...

    Peace.

shockowaffel Thanks for stopping by. Are you referring to as a colour photo refs and turning it to b/w painting when I practice?
Also, that seems interesting approach. I've never done it. Ill try that sometimes.
poetry man Whered you been son. Yea, ill try doing some perspective studies later.
