Good day,
Just stumbled upon your posts looking for a place to study and practice sketching, apparently you have postponed the meetings till next year. I'll try to keep up with the meeting times and see if I may join you in your sketch days.

My new years resolution is to life draw every week, I am trying to get some people to do it with me, so far me and 2 friends from school are thinking the 6:30 - 9:00 pm session at kings. Anyone who wants to be part of this, lets get it going!
Woo, what days?
Oh ya, sorry it's Tuesday 6:30 - 9:00 pm.
I think it's to hard to get up on my only day off (Saturday) and go to the U. The only other one that fits with workin peeps schedule is the Wednesday night at poor urricks, but I don't know much about that one. See you in Seattle!!!!
Sweet, I think I can make tuesdays. Might bring a few people too!
Seattle dude! When you flying up? I'm out thursday morning.
Same, me and the wifey are staying at the marriot. What is your flight#? Mine is southwest 643

Is the time and cost still the same for King's tomorrow?
Edit: Because today's Monday not Tuesday.

I'd still like to get a sketch group going if anyone is interested. I'm sorry I wasn't able to go that Friday at the end of the year last year. My schedule should be clean from 6:00 Friday through Sunday. If anyone here goes to the U of U saturday drawing session let me know cause I go every week.
-I wish I could attend the kings gallery also but I can't fit it into my schedule.

Yes, I am there! Hope to see anyone who can make it! Must draw... my design job has been sucking the life out of me...
I can't make it tomorrow but will hopefully be there next week. Still have to find my drawing supplies anyhow...
Heheh, good, I haven't figure drawn since before thanksgiving anyhow, this way you won't have to see me cry...
*EDIT: What a let down, the model was 20 minutes late, posed for about 45 minutes total and left because she was feeling dizzy. I had already paid though, and they didn't give me any money back.
We are going to try poor Yurricks next week on Wednesday, I'll post the details once I get em.

Hi guys and gals. I have to thank Idiot Apathy for pointing out this thread. Im glad to see you guys organizing things together. I currently have a really busy schedule and don't know if I could get to much but it's great to have the info.
Cheers to all - HANs
I heard a rumor that Weber is offering a Saturday figure drawing session from 10:30 - 1:30, and that the price is identical to the U's pricing. Anyone living closer to Ogden might want to look into this more.
-BTW still looking to get a Utah sketch group going, it might be good motivation for some of us to draw more *coughs, and points to self*

Fellow Utah-ian-ites.
Me and my buddy went to the Saturday morning session at the U of U this week. The model was extremely professional, and one of the best I have worked with yet. There was a very professional Vybe all the way around.
The actual time was from 9:30 to 12:30 and it was 6 dollars. Definitely looking forward to going back, there is normally supposed to be 2 models, one doing gestures and one doing a long pose.
Also:
I finally bucked up and got a library card. The downtown library is amazing, I highly recommend it. I walked out with over $500 worth of fine art books, which I would only read once then put on a shelf anyways. I think it is a great place to have some coffee and draw as well, maybe we should try to start a sketch group.
K-bot, I go to the u of u sessions almost every saturday, I'll be interested to find out who you are there, heh. I'd also be interested in starting a sketch group. PM me if you get anything going.

Toxdel,
I had surgery about 2 days after I went to th U so I haven't been back yet. You can see a picture of me on the first page of my sketchbook (link below) Say hi if you see me, I'll probably be back to it in a week or 2.
As for a sketch group maybe we should just set a tentative time and start doing it? I'm thinking Sundays? That usually is an easy day to have free, and there isn't very much traffic... heh
PS wtf is up with the weather Utah!?!?!
booo to weather. I didn't sign up for this.
heh, ya the weather here has been pretty strange lately. Hopefully I'll see you at the figure session in a couple weeks. Sundays should would work fine for me for the sketch group, especially after school gets out. Gotta love Sunday driving in Utah![]()
Hi guys,
Robert Barrett (instructor at BYU) is having a book signing and demo at Provo Art & Frame on Saturday, June 21 at 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. His new figure drawing book is out, and I have looked at a copy and it is very nice.
Also, the Plein Air Art Festival is this weekend, June 20-21, at Thanksgiving Point.
No new posts in over a month.. Sad
Utah art mueseum has a show going: Monet to Picaso
I have been going to the U every week for a month, as well as Kings. I met Toxdel as well.
I have also been going to the library once a week or so to draw. There is also a cool coffee shop on 4th south that is open late, it's fun to draw there as well. We should really get this group thing going, I'm open for suggestions. Also, anyone else down to go to the zoo and draw? Plein Aire anyone? I know hella spots, I go every week.
Utah? Let's do something social! God knows the heat and people around here are hot and sweaty, lets band together!
I'm with k-bot, I've been drawing at the library a few times and its hell o' fun. BTW - sorry K-bot for not seeing you at the u drawing sessions in a few weeks, things have been hectic plus I decided to go to the library a couple of times instead; maybe I'll see you there next week.
- If anyone is up for a drawing session at the library, or anywhere else in SLC for that matter let me know I'm game for anything.
Whats up Utah art kids. My first post. Im down to draw at any of the figure sessions or library as long as my schedule works out. K-bot whats up! Lets get some Sunday sketch group going at the library or something.
Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that illustrator Greg Newbold will be giving a lecture at the Orem Public Library on Fri. Sept. 5th.
I've seen him lecture before, and it was good from what I remember.Greg Newbold, illustrator of several children's books, including The Barnyard Night Before Christmas, The Touch of the Master's Hand, and Winter Lullaby, will present his work with slides and talk about working as an illustrator. 7pm Storytelling Wing.![]()

Hey, let's do a sketch thing in a few weeks or something. Downtown Library, bring sketchbooks; prepare to share and drawUtah unite!
Yes! I'd be tempted to drive up from the south lands for some sketching. Maybe some other southerners are interested in a carpool?
Ooh, you should mention how far south. Provo south or St. George south? Don't tell me St. George south...![]()
