@rogerb: It's not about artis, but about the museum for science in Amsterdam. The zoo is a pretty expensive place to visit.

Ah, I'm afraid I can't make it on Sunday, well this whole weekend wouldn't work for me. The teacher or my minor decided to give tons of homework to do for next week and the only two days I have are Saturday and Sunday to do my homework. I have to sit this one out. I'll definitely be there on the 19th or 20th in the Hague!

yoooo. i am planning a trip to amsterdam in late june with 3-4 friends(27th onwards for 4 days i think).

-it would be nice to meet up with some of you guys and do a bit of drawing!!!!

- any recommendations for good clubs, museums and especially coffee shops would be welcome

- i am working out accomodation - 1st choices right now are flying pig hostels and camping zeeburg. flying pig is very central and cheap for what it is, but zeeburg is 1/3 of the price (ultra cheap) the only problem is bringing tents through plane baggage would be hell and expensive hell. if there is any possibility of us being able to borrow a 3/4 man tent or two smaller tents we would be very grateful and you would be compensated (or work out a deposit scheme..whatever you like) we're just trying to make our money go as far as possible!

- i encourage any advice/recommendations you guys can offer.

i understand the thing about the tents might require a lot of trust considering none of you have met me before (apart from Noë) which is why i have asked now instead of in a few months, in case you need time to get to know me. ive been a part of this community for 4-5 years now and i'd much rather hang out with lovely like minded artists than randomers from couchsurfing.com... but im open to anything.

Havent been around for a while... you know, too cold for sketchmeets haha.

Sleep, Id be up to doing some drawing.. Are you the only artist in your group or are all of you guys into drawing?
Anyway, by that time we might be doing the weekly zoo sketchmeet again, at least I know id be up to it, so maybe you could join that.
Plenty of good coffeeshops in Amsterdam, although I am not much of a stoner and no expert. Im sure you know the famous ones already.

yes, it is getting that time again! when this winter finally does end, I am planning to go back to the zoo again. also, I've been meeting with a friend on some Sundays and sketching at various coffeeshops in Amsterdam Centrum. I haven't found any well-lit ones for large groups of people yet, but I'm sure there is one somewhere! Lately the place we go is Dutch Flowers off the Spui. Also the Grasshopper by Centraal is really big, but the bar upstairs is better for sketching than the coffeeshop in the basement. So once we get some let's organize something and figure out the place!

Oh, meeting up to do some sketching in Amsterdam sounds great! My skill level isn't very high, but I'd love to do some sketching. I don't have any time this sunday (march 21st), but I'm pretty free for the weekends after that (march 27 and onwards), both on saturdays and sundays. Perhaps we could set a date to see if it attracts some people? How about meeting up on sunday 28th of march in Amsterdam, in a coffeeshop if it's rainy and somewhere out in the open on a sunny day. Would anybody be up for that?

I'm in for a sketchmeet! I'm free on 28th of march, and on pretty much any day I guess ^^
I'm fine with both the coffeeshop and a nice park, depending on the weather.. If anyone under 18 would like to come, we'd have to go to a café instead of a coffeeshop though.
But I wonder: why do you prefer a coffeeshop for sketching Benzo?

A career event for the creative sector of the Netherlands, on March 25th in Amsterdam. I'm not sure yet if I will be able to come (the next 2 weeks I'll have to finish all my running projects for this quarter, and that particular thursday is the last day before the deadlines on friday) but it certainly sounds interesting.
I also had a good experience with the last career event I was at, which was the Nobiles career event. It wasn't even aimed at artists in particular (actually, it wasn't aimed at artists at all), but I did learn a lot and met a lot of interesting people there, and I'll be going again next year.

I can't go the 28th, last week I got message that I have to submit my portfolio a month earlier than expected (next week), so I need to spend all the time I got on that.
We have had a few good days lately, but overall the weather is not great yet, I think ill wait a few more weeks before ill buy a new zoo pass... But im looking forward to it!

Station, in front of the westernmost entrance (that is the one that, when you're
standing in front of central station and facing it, is leftmost). It's the one where all the
trams stop. I'll have my sketchpad out so you can recognize me.

Tomorrow's gonna have some occasional showers, so we could probably mix it up a bit,
some sketching outdoors and some indoors.

I was the only one there Just me, my moleskine and the zuiderkerk . Still had a good time though, the zuiderkerk is awesome and I made something quite pretty out of it. I also warmed up for a short while in a great cafe, De Jaren. It's big, open, bright and full of people.
Anyway, we should definitely try this again, if people are interested. Benzo, could we join you and your friend when you guys meet up? If so, could you post it here when you guys have a plan?

We had a really cool afternoon, just hanging and sketching some. I was a little scared to draw other people and only made a few quick sketches of them, but I also drew Benzo while he was drawing and it turned out quite neat. So yeah, succesfull sketchmeet!

Hey peeps, Benzo, possibly a friend of his and I are meeting up again to sketch some this Sunday. We're meeting in the center of Amsterdam, time is not really set yet but is probably around 3 pm-ish. Bad weather is not an issue since we've found some great illuminated cafe's to sit. If anyone would like to join us, just post here. Hey pplz, Benzo and I found a cool place to sketch, a well illuminated cafe/restaurant full of people right next to Amsterdam central station (at the main library). We were there this Sunday and we had a cool time drawing things! It's definitely a place to keep visiting.
So, Benzo, possibly a friend of mine and I are meeting up again this Sunday, the 18th of April, to sketch at the zoo (artis) in Amsterdam. The plan right now is to meet up in front of the main entrance at 12:00 pm. In case of bad weather we move to a cafe. Tickets are 18.50 Eur, though there is something on their pricelist which suggests that we can use Benzo's yearcard to give four people each a 5 Eur discount, but I'm not entirely sure. It's written ambiguously. Anyhow, I was also considering buying a yearcard, they're only 72.50 Eur and they grant you unlimited access.
So, anyone want to join us?

Whoa this is interesting and curse artis for not providing information properly. I clicked at something inconspicuous and saw a little list which suggests that the price of a yearcard is only 72.50 if you buy one: The second you buy is 57.50 and after that the price keeps dropping. Presumably you have to buy them all at the same time though.

Ok maybe it's not that much, a 15 Eur discount devided by two people, but still. So, any other people out there who might like a yearcard?
