    Wow, thanks everyone. Hearing people enjoy what I do makes it feel that much less masochistic. I'm always interested in CC too so please let me know if you have ideas or problems with anything.

    Here are some more game sketches (tried playing around with some isometric tests) and brainstorming and the work I've been trying out in CHoW.

    gonna self plug a bit here and I apologize but we need the exposure.

    I work for a 2 person gaming studio down in Florida. We just released our first social game on facebook called Relic Ball. It's a cute little F2P game that is pretty fun. If you could play it that would be wild https://apps.facebook.com/relicball/

    Feel free to be completely honest about it. If you enjoy it please consider spreading the word to friends, I would appreciate the support.

    Thanks. Any help we can get saves us just that bit more of our very limited funds.

    OK back to the normal side of things:

    @chevy28360: Thank you very much!

    @wolfnooM: Dude you are so right. I don't understand it either but I have and will continue to work on it. I need to bring the energy back into my final pieces. The rendering wipes it out I think...

    @wutangclam: Thanks man, very cool of you to say.

    Here are some works. Some are for Chow, some were rushed EoW sketches, one was for a LMS challenge over at the place that shall not be named.

    New batch

    I'm starting to look into freelancing now that I have the time on my hands. I just don't know how to begin. I think the first step I need to do is pull together a real portfolio, I love showing off all my work, even the crappy stuff - I have a feeling professional environments don't care as much about seeing me document my learning.

    So do you guys have any advice? What are some good places to look for client work. How do I get my foot in the door?

    Here are random studies focusing on random things, I tried to mimic more of Bumskee and IdiotApathy's stuff with the smudgy oil look, but it's pretty hard.

    Great development and use of the knowledge your learnt from studying creatures. Really like your enviros and the characters are coming along nicely.

    I love creating worlds , and it's the best thing when you can take stuff from your head and coherently lay about a scaffold for those thoughts and ideas.

    Cheers mate!

    Forums seem to be on the fritz again for me, all the image attachments are appearing as thumbnails. Small update for today. Did one of those exercises where you start out on a micro image then keep scaling up.

    I actually really sucked at he thumbnail stage as you can see there are plenty of lazy quicker ones. That ended up biting me in the ass later. Then The final comp was created by mish-mashing a bunch of the same image using lighten/darken and then over-painting details to make it flow better.
