    alizak: Thanks! It was fun

    ----

Just few quick still-lifes, photoshop crashed so I just quit. Was doing some characters but whoa do they suck, I REALLY should do more anatomy and such studies..

Shit is SO cash. Really great stuff man, excellent studies.

I'd love to see what you can do with all this. Some proper full blown illustration stuff (if thats your bag). Keep up the great work regardless.

PHATandy: Thanks a lot man! Your stuff looks even more awesome. Yeah I REALLY should try to do some finished portfolio-class illustrations. I try to create them every once in a while but I just fail horribly. The quality I can produce is always so depressing I just get back to doing studies and stuff x.x; I really should try to get something done.

    ---

Stuff for today. Really crappy SP (Oh god those mistakes in the anatomy, oh well). The enviroment is painted on top of some images, something I never do. It's funny how everything is SO easy when you just get some material to paint on to, even if they aren't of the subject matter you're going to paint. The last one is just some quick ahbisaaja inspired scribble.

EDIT: removed that SP. Whoa what the fuck was that.

That texture. Them strokes. That lighting.

Have to say that this is pretty damn awesome.

Toffers: Thanks for your kind words! I'm not worthy

    ---

Some of today's stuff, wasn't very productive ugh.

Continued the sketch from yesterday a bit, really ugly mech-scribble and maybe 35min SP.

EDIT: ok wtf, the attachments are bugging again...

I really should start thinking things through. I just jump into it without taking care of the fundamentals and everything ends up looking all wobbly and crap by the end, even if I felt like I had something going on somewhere during the drawing process.

    Hey Kvenh, nice updates.

That last piece is promising but I can't help think that the stalker in the back might be larger than the one in front. My thought would be to lower the camera to ground level, making the front stalker look huge and menacing as it hovers above you.

Mila: Thanks! Yeah, it's full of flaws. I didn't really have any idea what I was gonna do with it when I started so the perspective is all shit. It's kinda wrecked already so I'm not gonna continue it.

    ----

Study and some crap from imagination just for the sake of drawing.

merl1n: Thanks! Yeah they are horrible. I'm more of an enivroment kind-of guy and I haven't spent enough time doing anatomy stuff. I should try to fix that.

    ----

Just some scribble and few quick still-lifes. I just wanted to work fast and grab the colours and major shapes fast. These probably took like 20-30min so not really detailed. Was fun though.

Sweet stuff man, love the environments and the studies.
One thing you mentioned though is the faces and the anatomy on your stuff is a little off. I saw that you did some studies of the face on the last page, but the features look a little pasted on. You should do some studies of the structure of the face, and look at some Loomis to see how he breaks it down. It would really help the overall feel in some of your paintings.
Anyways, you're doing good man, really looking forward to seeing more!

PieMonster: Thanks for the crit! My anatomy sucks monkeyballs, even more than my enviroments. I'm trying to fix that.

    Mila: thanks man!

    ----

Sorry for the break. I've just been doing anatomy stuff, both traditionally and digitally but they are boring crap so I'm not gonna post those. These aren't really post-worthy either but gonna post them anyway, just for the sake of posting again. 1hour worth of 1min thumbs and some quick scribble, just having some fun and trying stuff out.

    cheers.

Scribblescribble. Just trying out different styles and techniques, nothing too serious. They look like crap but I think I might've figured something out.

    ---

A quick study and some BWs for fun. I really don't know how to approach these things. I feel like if I just work straight in colour they colours tend to be more interesting but if I from BW sketch to colour they look pretty bad even if they are better value and composition wise. My colours just aren't getting better.

Update, might continue a bit more later. I felt like it was okay in the middle but somehow I managed to destroy most of the feeling.

The creature looks like a dinosaur... I guess I have to fix that

Wippy, just for the sake of posting. Also should get those daylight lamps, I hate the feeling of artificial lamps.

Started doing this with oils but just fucked everything up and went for photoshop. Should do more oils, they have so much to teach but I've never really used them before and probably am even lacking the basic stuff. If anyone got any good tips, links or whatnot regarding oils please post.

I definitely hear you about doing more oils, but even so the photoshop still lifes are great - real improvement here!

I would recommend you richard schmid´s book "alla prima" if you can get your hands on it (some libraries have it if you dont have the cash) - it really deals with edges and the process of oils, as well as showcasing some of his incredible works. I think it would help give your PS still-life´s that extra level.

    Hope that helps!
