Falling up the stairs with SketchUp

New guy here.

I've been wanting to get into 3D for some personal projects and to pickup extra work. About two weeks ago, when I looked at some of the work being done on this forum, I got the inkling that SketchUp might be worth a look.

Anyway I have started to take baby steps but am highly motivated (soon to be 53 and don't to wait 5 years to develop skills or I'm in trouble).

Here are a few of my efforts so far.

I know that it's not much to look at yet but this is week two for me so I'm excited.

Good start, looks like you're picking up how Sketchup works quickly. Digging the robot model.

Hey thanks. Having fun -even took a sick day so I could stay home and work my way through some lessons. I'm hooked.

Here is my current wip. I wanted to try something a bit larger so opted for a 'medieval-ish' store (the rare times I play a game I favor RPG's with medieval or apocalyptic settings for some reason).It's mostly square boxes so far but I hope to fill it up with items and texture it so should be a good learning experience.

if you've been going for only 2 weeks, very, very well done! I'm particulary pleased to see you understand that sketchup makes simply 2d planes and if you want to make a wall or plank you need to give it some thickness. Most of the people in my class still haven't got the hang of that!

Thanks. I'm a few more weeks into this now. I had tinkered with different 3D packages over the years. I have found SketchUp easy to learn and it has a pretty awesome community.
