DESCRIPTION
CHoW has been running for a number of years now and seen thousands of specially designed characters for hundreds of unique topics. Now is a chance for CHoW enthusiasts to show their passion for both character design and CHoW by creating a design to be used on an exclusive, CHoW T-Shirt.


HOW TO ENTER
The contest will run in the same way as a normal CHoW challenge but will last THREE WEEKS. Artists may use this thread to post updates of their designs to get feedback whilst the contest is open. A few days before the closing date, a second thread will be posted where people can post their final designs. Both threads will then be closed on the deadline and a poll will be posted where artists will have ONE WEEK to vote for their favorite design.

When the poll has closed the artists of the THREE top designs will be contacted for a high resolution version of their image to be used on the T-Shirts.

GUIDELINES
The shirt needs to represent an element of the CHoW challenge so a good place to start would be to create a character which represents CHOW.

THIS IS NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE CHOW MASCOT/QUEEN OF CHOW!

Minimum Requirements for High resolution version: 150dpi 2500px by 3500px
Maximum Requirements for posting in finals thread: 714px by 1000px

When posting in the finals thread, please just post the final image. WIPs, Name and Title are NOT required!

Saving the file as a .PNG will keep any transparencies.


THE RULES

• Designs are for the FRONT of a T-Shirt only
• Designs MUST include CHoW or Character of the Week somewhere in the design
• Final images must be named: CHoWShirt_(username)
• Only original artwork created FOR THIS CONTEST will be allowed
• Only ONE entry per artist
• Entries must have a MINIMUM resolution of 150dpi for printing
• Designs must be suitable for any colour shirt

Designs which do not follow the rules will not be accepted into the poll.

Thanks! Though I've got another design that I want to do which I think will have more to do with the concept of character creation in CHoW. Now I just need to find the time to do it... XP

vineris I stand by what I said before, though I'm not sure if the shoulders help or not. I liked how the hair suggested at a neckline. I'm glad you got rid of the ear-ring though. I thought that it was unnecessary to your design. Now the character is a bit more androgynous, which is good if it is to characterize CHoW as a whole.

DImanic I like your idea, and the woman is suggested beautifully. Only, she draws way more attention than your other letters, and the rest of the word is left hanging, not quite apart of the design. It would be interesting to see if you could incorporate the rest of the word "CHoW" into her make-up.

LA-Fairy Hahaha, yes I do understand what you mean. There is definitely a 2:1 ratio between female and male characters here. Also, I like your fairy, it's very cute. The main comment I have is that she and your letters are very disconnected. I would suggest a more whimsical font to match her curve and style. Often times I use Harrington if I want to be whimsical. But that's just a suggestion, and it might not be bold enough for your taste.

And I wish that I could see some more designs! I had thought that a lot of people wanted a CHoW shirt! XP
(I also think that Rinibee should enter if she can because her graphic designs are ah-may-ZING!)

Thank you Phrix. I feel my fairy looks very weird and maybe her limbs are too long, but I had reference. Maybe I should widen her a bit? I have to mess with her..... this week.

Phrix: I really like your idea. I think the execution may work better if you go ahead and break the dog silhouette at places and leave more black around other spots. Right now I think you are trying a pinch too hard to fit the letters and dog perfectly together, which is creating some tangents.

Hi, Thought I would post my development of my 2nd idea. I don't think I'll have time to fix all the issues and work it up in Pshop.

I think I might have been too inspired by Gianluc Mattia, I'm no where near his league but I've been ogling his work and I think it's on my mind and shows.

My idea was that this would look like it was screwed to the chest and we are seeing into the heart of the CHOW artist. But I haven't got that working well yet. Plus I think it might be too feminine not generic enough.

Hey guys!

I've been thinking for T-Shirt design, clean, flat, hard edged shapes with a very limited colorpalette should work the best (like Phrix' pooping dog, I love the placement of the "o", very clever concept overall). Not only is minimalism amlost always a good design-approach, but I think clean vector stuff would also be easier to print. Don't know how elaborate paintings and gradients with lots of color can be handled technically.

Soooo, I thought why not take something that has been a symbol for CHOW for a really long time now? I mean... what's the point in introducing something completely new, if we have an already established, well readable design at hand...

I kinda like the idea of having the link in there, but I'm not sure about the placement yet.
