The chimneys on the house badly need core shadows.

Also, it looks like the ladder isn't actually going to the platform, if you look at the base of it, and then at the platform itself. Looks like some kind of m.c. Escher etching

EDIT TO ADD: Looking at it more... it seems the house isn't in the same lighting situation, in general. One of the torches seems to be lighting the side of it a little bit, but it's in the center of the hangman's platform. And the other torch is closer to the house, but not lighting it at all.

The stairs look like they go about 10 feet high, and about 4 feet deep; but judging from where the base of the stairs (and the woman's feet) are, and then the base of the platform, it looks more like it's about 15 feet away.

Loomis's Successful Drawing has several good perspective guides in there that can help you solve this issue (the depth issue).

BTW are you planning on drawing a jester for Jephyr's PCG challenge?

Awesome work as always mate! About the book cover:
    1. I think it can benefit from some harder edges especially on the man made stuff like the building and the wooden hanging thingy (dunno how it's called in english so i"ll call it like that from now on )
    2. The perspective is off in some places, foe instance the ladder and the "wooden thingy" are situated on different planes thus making the ladder position look awkward - as if it is not really connected to anything.
    3. The building blends gradually in to the background but the small annex does not, thus making it look as if it is not connected to the building at all.
    4. I don't know if you made it intentionally or not, but that small annex doesn't have any connection to the ground so it looks floating in the air.

    Hope it helped a lil.

    Cheers.

    This version is better.

Unless there's another light source (the moon?) we wouldn't see that much of the house.

I think generally there's too much light and middle values which kind of spread the focus of the composition.

    ---

RE: New ones... nice compositions; a little light in the value range. Check them with a desaturate adjustment layer to see if your values are reading.

looking great, love the 2nd to last environment. this is a little thing, but the scaling on the figure in the foreground looks a little off to me. i think it wouldnt hurt to play around with it, i looked at it for a while and i think he should be smaller. its hard to say though. Something like that is so small, and I actually hate when I get a crit like that honestly, because the person isnt talking about my rendering or improvements on painting or anything so its frustrating. But in this case the feeling of that figure has to be spot on, or else the picture wont work even if its rendered like brad rigney and ingres tag teamed the shit out of it.

great work though, awesome studies !

Haven't been here in a while, pleased to say it's looking great. Your enviros are really sound the one above reminds me of Alan Lees work. I think that witch hanging scene above would benefit from changing the angle of the rear building. I think if you force the perspective a little as it looks a bit flat and have it looming over a bit. Perhaps turn it into a church for extra emphasis?

This last one is looking great man, love it! One of my favorites from you so far. The design on the floor really helps convey a solid perspective. In terms of critique, I don't know what stage you're at in terms of finish on this piece, but I'll see if I can help. The floor on the far left could use some more subtle definition. Right now I'm not sure if it's cloudy and mystical, or if it's supposed to be nice and solid like the floor in the middle. You could also set up some reference for the drapery hanging around. I always feel like an artist is above the rest when they take the time to draw convincing drapery. You don't have to go all out rendering on every curtain, but I'd say work a little more on the ones around the focal point.

Anyway nice work man, keep us updated!
