Warhammer 40k W.I.P.

Hey guys, this is my first submission to CA. I don't usually ask for help, but I'm having trouble with the placement of the bunker entrance behind the commissar. The angle bothers me and I'm not sure how to fix it. I want it for a light source, but I'm willing to ditch it for a rock wall if I can't come up with anything.

Still early in the process as you can see. Help appreciated!

Never mind guys, I fixed the support wall in the back and everything seems to be flowing better. Guess I'll just keep you guys posted for the finished piece.

This caught my eye because I just upped a 40k WIP myself. I'm not one to help with perspective, but looking forward to seeing this progress.

Stopping for the night. Messed with the levels a bit before closing, will see if they still look alright in the morning. Will probably redo the soldiers face. He looks too cartoony for this piece. And a bit like a monkey.

I believe this is the finished value comp for the piece. I'll start coloring after lunch and a trip to the library. Not so sure about so many imperial eagles, might take out the one on the commissar.

You know, just to be awkward - this would work better the other way around. I'd rather see the Commissar than the soldier

I kind of like the eagles stamped on the crates. Whats bothering me more is the reclined soldier's proportions. His straightened leg seems too short, and his head seems a bit too large. Not sure if this is a style choice or not.

A smaller nitpick would be that the furling of the commissar's capes seems a bit too static and uniform. And up top, the barbed wire seems a bit messy and random. I think some tightening up might help there.

it's a style choice. And I agree, it would be more interesting to see the commissar, maybe for a future piece. First round of colors. This is the first time I've experimented with blur and glow.

dammit. after you mentioned the leg it kept bothering me. then I lengthened it way too much. now it's just right. second round of coloring I like to call enrichment. finish it up tomorrow.

I suppose this is the final iteration. Learned a lot while doing this. Never used the dodge or the variety of blur options before. I'll be sure to carry these lessons on to the next piece.

Never been on warhammer, so maybe I'm wrong and it's the way it's designed but shouldn't the lasersight be on the bottom of the barrel and not on the muzzle? Or is that not a lasersight? Maybe some weird sort of iron sight or bullet?

You've got some serious perspective issues here, The imperial commissar is topping over. And the camera angle + soldier on the ground + rest of the bunker also don't line up. It's better to make sure perspective is right before you start texturing and coloring.

noted. two and three point perspective are my weak points, and i'm trying to get better. does anybody know how to add on to the canvas on either side to I can correct these problems in the future? this isn't the first time this has happened.
