It has the potential to be really good if they can figure out a decent way to do it. It'll be hard though as the entire game is spent as a lone protagonist in mazes filled with alien monsters. I hope they don't chicken out give Samus a side-kick or something just so they pad the dialog. I'm a long time fan of the series and still consider super-metroid to be the greatest game of all time. When they talk about pleasing the fan base, they're talking about me. I know I could end up being dissapointed but it'd still be cool to see a live-action metroid on the big screen.

Personally, I'm looking forward to Metroid Prime 2. Prime was gaming nirvana as far as I'm concerned. Retro really hit a grand-slam with it. Everything about it is absolutely stunning. It was true to the other games and took the idea to a whole new plateau.

By the way, Alex Proyas, the guy who directed "The Crow" (the first one, not the shitty sequels) and "Dark City" did a really great commercial for Metroid Prime a while back. It was most excellent seeing Samus in live action, and he did the character an amazing amount of justice...despite never having played the games.
