Sketching vs Digital Media

First off I'm a huge noob to the art scene. Anyways, I've always thought concept art created with digital media programs like photo shop was vastly more difficult than drawing with pencil/sketching, however after seeing some videos of concept artists in action, demonstrating the technique used it looks like it might actually be easier. What are your guys' opinions on this?

Exactly (maybe too early to quote - IDK?). Turns out Syd Mead's gouache concept paintings are incredibly easy to pull off...for him.

Personally I prefer traditional media for my concept work and drawing/painting in general. I just feel I have more freedom and variety of process with traditional vs. digital. I prefer PS and modeling for things I can't do with traditional.

I think you ought to look at some of the blobby pictures made by beginners to the medium before you make any hard and fast judgements.

If you are just beginning, start with pencil and paper. Sketching digitally is too challenging, and tricks that make it easier are rather advanced. So stick to the simplest tools known.
