    Mecha Mecha

    Hi! This is my first post to conceptart.org. Got recommended to this site by a colleague, and I must say that this place is great. Hmm... I just hope this image loads properly...

    ZOE all the way! Too bad it's on lined paper. Very nice shading, though

    Thanks for your comments! It's on lined paper because I sketched it on my notebook (that is meant for taking notes, not doodling...). Long boring meetings tend to force me to doodle while pretending to listen...

    Here's another sketch on lined paper. This has no shading because it's drawn using pen.

    I like the last one! The cleaner lines work better for these kinds of "construction" drawings, the first one feels a little more blurred and hard to read whereas the last one is instantly recognisable. Will you color these?

    I'm afraid not, kapturowski. Those damned notebook lines prevented me from coloring them.

    Another mecha. This was meant as a design for a game, but was not used in the end because mecha combat was taken out of the game play. :mad:

    Sweet. this one is more elegant and "flowy". Feels like one of the mechs from pilate candidate.I love your mechs. you should put up a mecha drawing tutorial, so people like me can do it.

    Bradart > Thanks! Hmm, I don't think I can put up a tutorial on this, because I don't usually draw them systematically. It's more like putting down onto paper some ideas in the head, ...hardly tutorial material.

    flavorite > Thank you, but she can't kick asses; look mom, no legs!

    Here's one mecha that's more organic and "evil"-looking. I wanted something that gives the appearance of being able to kill in two slices.

    These are all awesome. When I try to draw mechs like these they don't come out so good...Mine end up looking far more bulky...and more like monsters than people...I'ld be glad to share...

    I personally like the evil one best...but where's it's other leg?...kinda hard to make out...

    Wow, those mechs are really really awesome. I have a mech posted up on this board too. It's over at this link (mech sketch). Please take a look at it and give me any advice or comments if you have time. I'm still learning to draw and color, so any advice would be soo cool. Thanks man. Your mechs rock!!!

    Abbobaf > When I draw this, I have this vague image in my head of its pose, to depict something very speedy and deadly. (I was inspired by the idea of a praying mantis, but I wanted to make it more or less humanoid.) So I just sketch it out roughly, without any concern over it's anatomy.

    But you're right, the legs are ...bad... ^_^;

    Slab > Thanks! I'll hop over to take a look.
