Thanks for stopping in and commenting over at my lil ole sb. Thought I'd return the favor (figuring I'd find a kindred spirit with anyone sportin' a Mr Incredible avatar).

And then I find out you're mixed up with LtPlissken!!

So it's good to see another artist on the journey. No crits for now other than to just keep those pencils movin!!

Loomis was my great friend. We used to smuggle tomatoes
through eastern Europe a few years ago. Then one night he
mixed up some Asian weed with rotten Indonesian onion and
a lot of tomatoes. After he ate the mixture, he drunk a
whole bottle of strawberry brandy.
He threw up all over the fresh winter snow and I lost him in
the wine yard. He was jiggling up and down in the muddy soil
of the late January meadows. I did not saw him since then.
I hope that you did not shot him too hard. He got some nice
feelings inside him. When he is sober. I like the studies.

Oh yes he and I went to different schools together some years back and he was into malt whiskey and pineapple chunks back then, by the pint too. Thats when I first thought, hmmm this man has a problem.
He couldnt hold a pencil and he was talking rubbish it was a kindness to finaly shoot him in the face and put him out of his misery!
Sorry snake but he's dead, on the plus side though I drag him out of the freezer every halloween to frighten the trick or treaters, so he does still get out!

You are surely infected. Your frequent get-togethers with Plissken definitely had their consequences. You are doomed, you might never be taken seriously enough when showing such severe symptoms but cheer up, you will be remembered as a great entertainer - making this world a better place isn't a bad thing either, isn't it.

I'm seeing some definite improvement as I look through the pages.

One thing I will say, though. That last picture, the torso's right shoulder looks a little out of place to me? Like it's too far forwards/to the side? If you go back to it, I'd bring the shoulder back a bit.

Hmmm youre the second to say theres something wrong with the basic form of those, I definately need to do some more it seems. Which is a shame because I was getting rather bored with those pages of figure drawing for all its worth, oh well never mind eh! back to it

Hello matey, I wish you a Merry Christmas too, and
a Happy New Year, all the best to you and to your family.
These snowman paintings are so great and relaxing, I like
the purity in it. You know me, I would have my own version of
course, like for example, the snowman would fish out a dead
half rotten Santa Claus from under the ice. The soundtrack could
be like 'Trapped under Ice' from Metallica. Or something.
Great work overall, thanks for sharing, and its good to see that
you are back from your long absence.
About the funny, wife/husband running shoes story, well I have
to admit it's funny, and it will be definitely accepted by the majority
of the audience so I encourage you to draw it or paint it, whichever
feels better for you. In my version the safari Lion would definitely
mangle the husband and molest the wife after, no matter to her
running shoes. But I have a twisted weird sick imagination, so please
do not blame me too much. Hope that you will publish pretty soon
the story. Till then, taker care and have a nice weekend.

Hi guys

This is for an animation for the top of a web page for a school, I thought I would post and see if anyone can see anything wrong with the walk cycle or the baseball pitch snowball throw. I have looked at them and then put them aside and cant see anything else that I have missed, so its over to you can you see anything out of place or odd with any of it.
Sorry that the cycles have been cut down and split into threes the idea was to stop you having to scroll sideways to see it.

First is the basic guy, bog standard snowman but with legs rather than big round balls of snow.


Next is the baseball style throwing of the snowball at the screen, the idea is it hits and spells out happy christmas next hit says from the school in question.


The last one is the walk cycle to get him on screen and then off again, I wanted a bit of a head wobble or a nod as he walks on and off this adds a little more silliness and makes him non aggressive hopefully!

Edit - Er the images are not showing up !! am looking into problem bear with me!! fixed it but I dont know how I just attached them all again after deleting the originals, weird!!

Iám not very good in such things I guess, I mean, seeing just the pictures and saying if it will be wrong when animated But the walking cycle seems okay to me. The other one is more difficult but seriously, it's easier to test and fix while animating. i don't even fully understand what's going on, especially when the snowman throws the snowball, why is he spinning, or is the camera moving?

Hi there darlin

Ha ha ha The snowman is throwing a snowball in the same style as an american baseball pitcher (bowler) and the spin comes from all the innertia of throwing the ball........... well i hope so anyway.
It is loosly based on a cycle put out by Preston Blair a disney animator and hero of mine, I say loosly because he used a person and only an idiot like me would try to do a snowman but there you go!

So happy because of the oncoming holidays, Christmas and New Year,
even if I am a bit ill. Cold weather is killing me most of the time.
But I will wait to see your finished piece, the actual GIF animation,

the walk cycle looks cool! That remembers me of animating characters for a game there I need to change the movement pixel by pixel!
Just keep an eye of the length of the snowman's limps. The arms are much longer in the walk cycle and in the storyboard than in the turn around. I don't know if you really want it like that

Thanks very much for commenting, Yes I know what you mean and they are drifting up and down a bit arn't they, I will watch out for it when I put him together, you are a star.

This is why I put it up here! I get a little too close these things sometimes and forget to take a step back or a rest and look at it again with fresh eyes.

Hey Lightship - definitely some improvement which is great! My only advice is keep it up - do more...and definitely try to work in some still life studies of simple arrangements. Even just a couple boxes...really force yourself to do those...spend a few hours drawing two boxes. Put your effort into accuracy first and then line quality and values. Try a pile of cloth, a tool or two, etc. Also start working at an easel if you aren't already...work large...break out some charcoal, etc.

Keep at it! Remeber to have fun!

im doing a little animation myself now, and those walking frames of yours beat mine im pretty sure, im doing mine a 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5- 3 pattern, with a repeating frame, maybe im best off dropping that and moving to one more like yours.

Thanks for stopping by my SB and commenting Its great to see you are so dedicated to learning and improving. Have you attended any figure drawing classes? If not, you might want to as it will teach you so much more than working from photo ref. Don't get me wrong, photo ref is great, it is just that it won't teach you things that only hours infront of a model doing gestures will. That and Keep plugging away on your fundamentals such as perspective and color theory.

Ok here we are again its update time, I have been working on gestures for a while now and attempting to get a pose that feels natural and not a static hero pose, which is stiff and silly and fools no one.

so here are some ok ones and some fails, but i believe you learn from your failures too so here you are.







I personally like the guy drawing and the cowboys, most of the others are fails as you sort of get it but it doesnt leap out at you and make the action obvious.
