As mentioned in the title, I will illustrate anything for anyone if there is a paycheque in it for me however small.
The masin reason being it keeps me in beer tokens (money!) and I get experience of what printers, agents, and editors do for a living lol.
The illustrations are from medical and radiography textbooks.

This is from a recent "Videoflouroscapy" text book on swallowing disorders etc.




The second three are for a tauma radiography book





There you go living proof that I will do almost anything foir money!! lol

The toons both have the right expression. It reads immediately. Some more drapery/clothing studies would help a lot and it wont take too long either . Watch the thickness of your lines. Do you tend to press really hard when you draw? If so, ease up a bit and build it up in stages.

That's smart! lol I do that at work- I'm sort of a rover and they just put me in whatever department or project is behind. No worries about things getting tedious if you always switch it up.
I know a few guys who animated Percival the adventure penis to get from one contract to the next. lol - whatever pays the bills.

Which program are you using for the 3D stuff? For the interiors I recommend turning the ambient light down and making it a warmer colour - a touch of yellow or orange. Right now they look very blue- and artificial light tends to be yellowy.
Also, play around with the hilights on the objects (spectral mapping if I remember correctly? been a while.) If all the objects are reflecting white light it looks very CG.

Mr.Pryminsta - dude you are so right about the clothing studies I will get right on it and even post some if you are unlucky!! lol I think the line thickness thing is a scanner issue the fade correction is a bit savage as is the back light I will try and soften that too. Thanks again for the crits mate it is much appreciated.

Rhubix - Dont panic dude I will never volluntarily leave this forum, I only ever go quiet when things get madly busy, you know how it is with deadlines whooshing at you from all angles. Sometimes posting on here has to take a backseat for a while still love you all and cant get enough of being in here with you.

My View is there is varying degrees of progress, eyes still suck but thats down to sheer piss poor effort more than anything else I was trying to get expression from them and like I said with varying degrees of success.

And Theoden from the cartoon version of Lord of The rings, ........well it sort of looks like him. There was something slightly feminine about the way he moved and the character generally and I couldnt see what or where I got the feeling from, it was just wrong for him because he is after all a macho king who wants to die well..
It could just be me being weird though it does happen !!

as to the medical drawing yes its true I will take on anything if it pays !! lol

Got some more medical stuff to do as well for an up coming "Ultrasound book", I have two images to make for it on acoustic shadowing and acoustic enhancement.

Those others are already in print in a book on trauma and also one on videoflouroscopy, I am such a tart and will do almost anything for cash! ha ha ha

Ha ha ha I dont know about "great" but there are aspects that I like in some of the images, I have such a long way to go before I can consistently get what I want and need from this.

As to the medical stuff I am of the opinion that anything that helps pay the bills is to be encouragred

OK once you have looked and laughed at its brilliance, or screamed at it for being sexist! just think for a moment how good it is!

It gets the point across effortlessly!

and you wont forget in a hurry, its just a brilliant well thought out advert.

That Aston Martin ad is awesome.
I like your drawings, I have some advice for you if you are interested in doing them in a more loose, relaxed, controlled way, which is spreading the graphite tone on the page, with the hand(yes get messy, if you are working traditionally your fingers should be covered in graphite), or a tissue, and this is a great way to model the middle tones and from here use an eraser for the highlights(cut small, sharp pieces from a bigger eraser or use eraser crayons) and use the crayon for the darker details.
I know it might seem strange but it is a great technique and you will see how much freedom it gives you to model the volume.

You snape certainly looks like "a mean tempered greasy git". Or a scary convict haha.
Haven't drawn all over your stuff in a while so here ya go.

Personally I think eyes are vital for any portrait. One good start for eyes is to look at shape - Snape has kind of triangular eyes because he has droopy eyelids.

Ok here he is again this time drawn on an A4 pad rather than roughed out on an A5, Which I think had some good points and as mentioned a lot of bad ones.

I enjoyed messing with him so what the hell!

anyhow here he is again with the ref used, so you dont have to guess where its wrong you can see and enjoy.

Alan Rickman is such and interesting person and has such an interesting face to draw.





Not perfect I know but as JeffX99 keeps saying work bigger and dont make it hard for yourself, so I did.

Hi as mentioned in the title this what I saw in my minds eye when I read Iain M. Banks's brilliant novel "Excession", I might have gotten his name a bit wrong there but hey ho the book is right on.

These are lots of reworkings of what is described in the Book as a "Rapid "Offensive Unit" this one I have labelled "Furious purpose" as they all have nemes like that in the books, for example "Malicious intent, Aggressive Attitude, Quiet Malice etc" which all goes to amuse and entertain as you read the book.
Anyhow I am rambling somewhat so here are the pictures and I hope that we get a comment from Mr Kendal who is also a fan of this guys work as its always interesting to see if anyone else saw things the way you did after reading it.










I hope you like them and leave a comment and if anyone wants to have a crack art drawing them please feel free but bung me a note so that I can have a look too.

hmmm youre right, he did say submarine didnt he. this does look right.
no visible drives at the back it was all inertialess or something wasnt it. hypertech orbs.
but i like the basic design a lot. im about to crash but ill send some stuff over tomorrow or over the weekend.

ok also what about the Clear Air Turbulence, that definitely had quite a detailed desicption... fun to be had here i think me old mate.

Hey LS, great to see more work as always. You got a good Rickman likeliness; however the drawing still seems a little flat. try getting some softer graphite and darken the pupils and the folds of the eyes. then maybe hit a little in the areas of probable ambient occlusion, but not as much as around the eyes; its surprising how much more that can add to a portrait. I'm not sure how you tackle form, i personally like getting the terminator and cast shadow boarders, then adding in a flat value for the shadow at like a medium-dark range then go in and work back into the core shadows and dark accents, it helps sorting out the value relationship well. Nice medical illustrations too pal. Keep at it.

Thanks for calling by Mr Kendall sir, it is as always a pleasure.
Yeah to be honest I put the engines on for those that didnt know what it used for propulsion, and because to be honest I am not sure how to illustrate drive fields etc beyond maybe distortions around the ship, highlighted sections and coloured ripples in the distorted areas. The danger is that it just looks like bad manga lol, and we dont want that now do we!!!?? Thats as far as my thinking took me with that but I welcome any ideas! I looked at the distortions in the air just after the heat blast from aircraft afterburners and thought I could work that and see what comes out.

Hi chris yes you are right in your assessment he is a little flat and a lot of that comes from the reference it was too small and couldn'tpick out the detail, I agree with you there.
As to the softer graphite I am not sure as I rather like the combination of my trusty HB2 for fine lines and my 3B for darker work I just get good results from them. If I get too many pencils around I invariably cock it up lol.

As to Professor snape I think he has improved since the last one as I mentioned and I rather like the ref Rhubix posted too. I will come back to him sooner or later. I think I will move on to some more enviro studies again and re-task myself in that area as I have some work to do that involves a kid in a garden.

Hey there mate, yes I am still here and still alive thank God, I was just too busy lately,
being between two jobs, not having the real mental strength to do anything useful. I will
try to draw and paint again, and to post something in my sketchbook pretty soon, but before
that I would really like to visit some sketchbooks and to see what happened, return some
favors. I don’t have a facebook account, I know that sounds strange, but I never got the
real motivation and some true reason to create it. But lately as I think turning my artistic
skills into real money, I am aiming to do so, to create a facebook account, so I could
