    Jens' Sketchbook

    Hi,
my name is Jens, I'm 17 years old guy from Norway and I'm currently taking Media and Communication classes in High School.

In the past few years I have grown an interest for 3D art (3D game art to be exact).
Now I'm setting foot into 2D in order to get the understanding of form, color and anatomy that I need before I can carry on over to digital sculpting.

    Constructive criticism is incredibly welcome!
I plan to update regularly- weekly at least.

ayoub66: Many thanks. Yeah, can't go wrong with Snake.

Detlef: Heh thanks, sounds pretty unrealistic but I'll do my best.

Loomis' Drawing the Head & Hands doesn't really go very in-depth on how to draw the mouth, eyes and especially the nose. So I would be forever grateful if someone could link me to some guides or tutorials on the subjects.

    More head studies.

Aye having a strong 2D foundation is the key for 3d art. Thought I'd drop some 3d sites, plenty o' nice work on them and tuts.

    Keep up the practicing.

    ^_^: Cool. Thanks.

No school this week thanks to winter vacation, which means more time for practice (and faffing around in my bathrobe).
I think understand the general proportions of the human head now so I decided try drawing some noses.
Constructive crit and any helpful links on how to draw and understand noses is welcome.

    Good work Jens!

It'd be a good idea to use a bunch of different photo references and draw a lot of different noses. I'm sure you already thought of that though.

    Many thanks for the motivation

I've been quite busy with schoolwork and mindlessly browsing the internet the past two weeks, so much for "updating weekly"

Anyways, here are a few more noses followed up by a bunch of mouths.
    Feedback is welcome as always.

Taking a step back to 2D as I have come to the realization that my 2D foundation is way too weak.

Here's a rough value study I did of Blade Runner's Rachael.

lots of good work going on here but what really caught my attention was your amazing likeness of me after ive just puked my guts up at a house party last year (see below, far right)
you even caught the haggard expression and greasy hair..the only thing you missed was the spattering of Havana Club and partially digested hot dogs on my shirt
    are you psychic??
